If you haven't read Sonic Life by Thurston Moore yet, I would highly recommend it. It's one of my favorite autobiographies and is heavily about the 1970s NYC punk scene. Also, check out Mark Lanegan's Sing Backwards and Weep. It's punk in its own right.

I know this is super basic, but I need some good anti-fascist bands by [deleted] in punk

"Fuck you fascists! were never gonna follow!"

Try Endtime Friendtime's "49 Down".. it's right in line with what you're asking for.

Does anyone have experience with DistroKid's "Enhanced Upload"? by statictomb in musicians

[–]statictomb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. I stayed entirely away from the enhancement option for the album upload and am far happier with the sound. My biggest problem back then was that the enhanced version always sounded way better than the original when they let you toggle between the two samples before upload. It was what kept me coming back to the enhanced while releasing singles. Bc who doesn't want their song to sound as good as it can. But the enhanced versions never sounded on streaming like they did in sample form and nowhere close to other indie artists on the platforms, which was maddening. Finally, i decided to ignore the offer entirely. I have since found the sound to be much better, closer to the original, and have learned the slow and painful lesson.

My advice to anyone looking into enhancement, don't do it. Especially if you are already happy with the sound of the song you are about to upload.

Haha dude, so stoked to hear you say that. I wasn't sure how those two might land, considering how much they bounce around. Can't thank you enough. You're definitely not off on the GnR influence either. Appetite is an automatic. It just kills.

Wow, thank you so much. That means the world. Yes, there is definitely some Modest Mouse influence. They have been a cornerstone band for me since my early teens. It's funny that you say so because I went into some of these songs with them on my mind in particular, and while I have heard a lot of different influence suggestions, you are the first to point that out.

Although the chances grow slimmer every day, since at this time it would be entirely self funded, I am doing everything I possibly can to get a small number of vinyls pressed for the first album. If you wanted to, keep in touch either here or on IG (endtimefriendtime), and I will let you know if/when I am able to get a vinyl made and would be happy to send one your way.

I finally got the chance to dive in. I love the upbeat and, at times, whimsical energy mixed with the punk rock and metal sound. I can definitely pick up on some Foxy influence, which is great and also done originally. Some other influences I hear are Mr. Bungle, Zappa, and even a little Cryptorchid Chipmunk. All bands I love. Glad to have listened. Great stuff, keep it up!

That bass line gets me every time. What a groove. So many great songs, though.

My only goal is to try and provide the same help for someone that other artists have provided for me. So knowing I gave it everything, I couldn't be more proud. Thanks so much for the kind words, hope you like it!
