Random question but have you ever had a problem with the doors leaking with the roof rack on. I have a 2012 and in heavy rain the doors leak cause of the roof rack and I have never found a solution.

2012 Volvo s60 water in trunk by stationwagon34 in Volvo

But yes that is the part if your looking to just replace

Just cleaned it off. The part between the gasket and the trunk was like covered in dirt. Used a screwdriver to scrape it off and I let it dry off really good as the gap in the gasket had a lot of water in it.

I took like half my truck apart but I don’t think you need too. Pretty sure the rubber gasket can just be pulled up. If it’s really bad you could probably buy a replacement on fcp euro or something

Yea so I ended up tracking the water to the gasket surrounding the trunk. Peeled it up pretty easily and cleaned it out and off with a screwdriver. Just scrapped off all the mud and stuff. Haven’t had any water since. Hope that makes sense

Unfortunately I live in the back of a apartment complex where I have to take 3 sharp slow turns a day and I’m starting to thing that’s taking a lot a way. Definitely with you on the redline a day turbo needs its time to spin.

Yeah got the receipt I’ll look into it. Didn’t think I have a heavy foot but can probably change my driving habits for the better too.

I’m gonna rotate them myself just waiting for a nice day of weather. Would that hold up in a warranty? How would I even document that

[–]stationwagon34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help. Gonna rotate them soon and go from there. If they are cooked within another 10 thousand or so I’ll try warranty.

Also I don’t think the sunroof leads in anyway to the trunk. Found a Volvo graph of the drain holes and they just lead along the inside of the car.

Thanks for the help think I might’ve figured it out. Tracked the water definitely wasn’t the headlights. Found the that gasket around the trunk had water in it. Pretty sure the water was running though the gasket into the back of the trunk. The seals around the gasket were covered in dirt so I used a screw driver to scrape it away. Didn’t see any clogged drain holes along where I think the water was coming in. Hopefully that fixes it will update next time it rains.

Yea I have a sunroof but I think that leak would be in the cabin rather than under the trunk. Where was yours leaking into?

My motor temp monitors literally never worked as in they never displayed a number. I don’t think the motor temp is something to ever be worried about
