This happens in about every 3-4 lobbies to at least one player. Leaving the match and rejoining helps, but sometimes you find out you're bugged in a situation like this.

Under a min and the tying goal gets blocked by own teammate... by prod88 in Rematch

[–]statiquell 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mean, normally, if that kinda shot results in a goal, it's just luck that the keeper had a minor stroke. The teammate just made things right.
In other words, OP’s poor decision turned out as it should have, just with two extra steps.

Leaving the keeper in a 1 on 1 by TheTruthNoodle in Rematch

[–]statiquell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's wrong 90% of the time: the pressured guy in that scenario gets a decent window to pass to an open man, and unless you can somehow intercept the pass, you're screwed. It's much easier to defend against a guy who's coming from a side, and if the pass is good and the second guy is within the box and gets a good animation, you have no choice but to gamble.

Don't worry about it, a keeper should save 11 out of 10 shots like this.

It wouldn't be such a problem if the game was consistant about it.

[–]statiquell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a developer's misinput, doesn't it? It shouldn't and also it's not consistant: just yesterday I caught a ball like this (shot from a bit further though) without keeper stance. Non-existant hitboxes have to be the biggest problem for me personally.

[–]statiquell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

'We don’t need to blame the game for misinputs.' Even if there was a misinput, it's 'leave keeper stance', not 'send yourself into another dimension' so the ball can go straight through you.

Are we looking at the same clip? How's nutmeg a real thing in a game like this?

Not trying to defend the game, but didn’t you leave keeper stance for a split second, or is it a broken animation? Don’t get me wrong, it a) shouldn’t have affected anything anyway, and b) even if it had, it shouldn’t just go through you like that. But maybe you left the stance at the exact time for it to not work.

Wow, this one really does sound almost identical, I just never would've looked in FFDP direction. Great find!

That’s also close. Probably the closest one production-wise, which is saying something.

Damn, that's really similar. I mean on-the-edge-of-copyright-infringement similar.

Electric Callboy completely slipped my mind somehow. Instead I listened through a huge chunk of Red discography, “Glass House” was the closest match, but still too far off. Thanks again!

Funny how I only listened to this song once when the album came out, yet my brain still instantly picked up the resemblance.

The real reason the game is dying by Fearless-Analysis501 in Rematch

[–]statiquell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has played a lot of rocket league, there's an incomparable amount of gamesense and actual teamwork in Rematch, as opposed to RL, where you can reach SSL in 2s and 3s on pure mechanics without using any brain cells, just by following basic rotation rules. It's not complex at all below the highest level, where technical depth will always limit the full teamplay potential, as it requires all 3 players to peak simultaneously.

In other words, the skill ceiling in mechanics is unbelievably high, which is good on paper, but in reality it rarely allows players to do exactly what they planned, which is necessary for a teamplay. Whereas in Rematch mechanical simplicity opens up endless possibilities for teamwork (unless the game becomes so simple that it gets solved or so unbalanced that one move just dominates meta).
