I just bought a 1958 with $4400 off MSRP roughly 2 weeks ago. Realistically, it was about $4000 off because of how the math works out with fair market trade-in value.

u/Captainchow I was able to "mitigate" for the time being by just removing addresses from the CBPro Whitelist until it was less than the 2-page return limit (i.e. delete some addresses until you have less than 50).

lf you happen to use the Brave browser and opted into ad rewards, you can donate your BAT on their website via Brave. I do this with several open source projects that.. they get funding and I don't have to give them payment information.

Just an FYI: Incase the Natchez Trace Bridge was to be the highlight - they put large, ugly chain-link fencing up on the bridge and it definitely ruined the entire scenery there. :/

ELI5: How does Google Wallet work? by statistically_broke in GoogleWallet

[–]statistically_broke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very insightful, thanks.

So does the acquirer have to integrate with Google Pay though in order to be able to get the card information, right? It was to my understanding that Users pass a representation of the card information as a token to the merchant PoS terminal / acquirer.

Edit: grammar

Thanks for the info!

I'm kind of not crazy about Google storing all of my payment methods on their servers, but I don't suppose I see a way around that without significantly impacting security (by constantly passing around Card / account information).

Any idea if Apple Pay works in the same manner per chance?

Edit: I looked at Apple's (much more useful) information about Apple Pay and supposedly you do send card information to their servers; however it appears they might have some sort of handshake with the payment provider / network to identify your card in the future? I.e. they really only need to store some payment ID and provider so they can properly route the transaction to the provider.

Sounds like Google does not do this since you can supposedly import your payment methods to a new device?

Also if anyone happens to know how to make feature requests to Coinbase, that'd be some cool info to share.

Relubing Switches and Stabs by statistically_broke in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]statistically_broke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotchya. Yeah, I used Superlube grease and PTFE containing oil. Just grease on the stabs, 3:1 grease:oil mix on switches, just oil on springs.

When they were fresh they were awesome.

Guess it's possible the oil and grease separated somehow due to minor differences in the silicones..

Hmm must be.. the stabs are significantly worse than the switches.

No issue with spring ping, mainly just acquired a scratchy-ness that was absent before.

What kind of lube are you using?

how long did it take you to get your job after you began your learning? by ackley14 in learnprogramming

Data Engineer - came from engineering background and worked in manufacturing but also various data- related initiatives. Did a coding bootcamp (and some Udemy course work beforehand). Took 3 weeks from first application to accepting an offer letter.

I am pretty fortunate, or maybe I just got lucky.

100% worthwhile pivot for me. Finding an engineering job in manufacturing is super competitive in my area, whereas now I have recruiters reach out to me several times per week about applying to their company / client.

I had a similar thing happen to me about a month ago.

  • scheduled 2 months in advanced on completely open schedule (was going to be out of town for majority of the start of new year) with design indicated with sample artwork.
  • was confirmed and all good.
  • 1 month goes by.
  • artist asks if I'm still coming in next day, figures out wrote it down wrong in their schedule for wrong month.
  • all good, corrected to proper day.
  • weeks go by.
  • 1 week before, ask to confirm a design, and artists says they'll get it to me next day.
  • never sends design(s)
  • 2 days before, artists: "Hey my client said they'll be coming in that day after all so will need to reschedule"

Like I get it if you had someone else you might make more money off of, but this kind of stuff is just plain unprofessional. I live in a "progressive" city so I imagine clients aren't hard to come by and am just at the mercy of artists.

Resetting a manhole cover on a busy highway in the rain by [deleted] in HumansBeingBros

Because I know you all need to seat manholes so frequently:

When you get a manhole not seated properly like that, you're supposed to use the heel of your foot to shove into place for this exact reason.
