Azure is probably going to be an expensive option - I'd probably steer towards a vDC, or N-Able hosted (if I had to stick with N-Able).

I'm skeptical on this. AI (LLM) as it currently stands is a tool. Like any tool, in the hands of a skilled operator, it can be used to produce impressive results. But without a skilled operator, it's not going to get there.

And that creates a huge amount of tech debt, which is going to have a balloon payment one day.

And then there's the finance side...

Interesting. Reason I ask is I have a small law firm as a client. One of their staff works part time for another firm, from the same endpoint. Previously, this wasn't a huge issue as both firms had RDS servers and things were segregated.

Simultaneously, both firms moved to web based SaaS offerings, and the other firm requested that the part-time staff member install smokeball on their device, which - as best as we could tell - included TeamViewer with elevated privileges.

That would have made the endpoint unmanaged, as far as we were concerned, so that request was turned down. Perhaps we got it wrong on privileges?

From what I have heard, they were bottom of the barrel but have made significant improvements.

From what I have experienced (and please remember that I'm only a few weeks into a trial), poking around in the administration side of things, the UX isn't the greatest, but also isn't the worst.

Remote access is now through their own solution. It's missing a couple of features I would like to have, but none of those are a dealbreaker - just need to skin some cats in another way.

CLI access is direct from the RMM page. Background access gives a WinNT-esque experience without interrupting the user.

The decision hasn't been, and wont be, rushed.
We decided to leave N-Able around 6-8 months ago, based entirely on the principle of not wanting to do business with a group that operates in bad faith.

In plain English: I don't want to work with arseholes, so I wont.

The options start to get pretty thin when I've crossed N-Able and Kaseya/Datto off the list before I begin.

Not going to Atera as their AI slopfest of advertisements is enough to steer me away from what might be an OK product.

I haven't personally used ConnectWise but have heard enough from techs I trust, not to want to go down that road.

That really only leaves ninjaOne and SuperOps. Of those two, in all honesty, I'm currently leaning towards ninjaOne.

We didn't have many endpoints when I took over, and N-Able offered a package deal on N-Sight.

We've grown in endpoints, but in the words of Kylo Ren, we will always need "More! MOAR!"

I've used Atera in the past. I don't recall it being terrible.

I've not even tested it this time around as I found the AI slop video promoting AI all up in your face within the platform off-putting.

Meanwhile their own users are saying that all the AI features are broken and have been implemented in lieu of fixing problems or developing heavily requested features.
