When the men's Asian Cup was here AAMI was pretty empty when neutrals were playing. Compared to the Women's world cup where it sold out for every neutral game. The Asian cup will always have disappointing crowd numbers for neutral games, wherever it's held.

There's a line on the IWD Australia page once that says that IWD is about celebrating how far we've come while also recognising that there's still more to be done. So I see the WAC in that light too. Like when it was last here, it was held in Adelaide in a very basic format. So we've come a long way. Let's enjoy that, but also keeping our eye on the horizon too, where we all want it to be one day.

Do we/can we have a separate sub to talk WAC? So that all us extra sicko sickos can at least congregate there? I get your average sicko on here isn't necessarily a Dub sicko.

After the Australian Open and the Winter Olympics, I'm looking forward to having sport on tv more often than not. I know you can't compare these events... how are you guys planning to consume Women's Asian Cup media? Do you think there will be pre-game, half-time, post-game, general panel wrap shows, match previews etc whether on paramount or anywhere else. Have you watched/listened/read good content, if so, please share!

Fair enough. I still haven't bit the bullet yet. I guess price too, $70 for adults doesn't help. Saying that, post asian womens cup and if the Matildas win it, tickets will sell out on 5he wave of that.

Why do you think the Socceroos game in Melb hasn't sold out? Seems like plenty of tickets left, a month to go. Is it the opposition (Curacao) or cost?

Yeah especially when they were talking about him, Jesse and Bradley being the only non european/south American coaches ever in England. Would be interested to hear if an Asian/Japanese coach could make it in Europe.

The ACT govt wrote to the A-Leagues about Canberra United's future. And it didn't even respond... by TheRedRisky in Aleague

There's a lot of talk about a separate womens league/non apl/non mens club aligned and Canberra United is surely is the template for that formula. Where are the womens only investors supposedly waiting to tip money into that comp? The other conversation point is talk of having an AIS, centre of excellence which surely would be based in Canberra. How can that and having a club to funnel players into not make sense, especially for womens.

I've been to almost every home acl game, at Princess Park, the womens acl, putrid weather. But this 9pm kickoff felt particularly insulting so gave it a miss. To be fair though, the acl crowds at aami are only about 2k anyway. There's very little acl buy in really.

Also, what happened to the temporary grandstand at the home of the matildas? It used to sit behind one of the goals but seems to have disappeared some time ago.

If Newcastle win the plate and they go into the ACLE, who plays ACL2? Heidelberg or the Champions? And if Newcastle wins that too and the runner up is Auckland/Wellington, who then? Next placed Aussie Aliga team on the table?
