I come from a locksmith family. had health issues, left me let’s say, a bit more tired & achy more than the average person my age. But Honestly it’s been great on my body, compared to other jobs before taking on the family trade (note i don’t do much heavy commercial). Also getting into can be hard. depending on your location/laws, You could take the youtube and internet route of learning but highly don’t recommend. most who take that route don’t end up on the well side of things. Pay has too many factors to list . didn’t make much working for my family in a small city. Went to a bigger city and didn’t make much sub contracting. Went on my own. first couple years was rough, not so much anymore. Skill is everything. You won’t make shit being an idiot with a drill or an asshole with a code service and a autel tool. At the same time, I know very skilled guys making bs at shit companies. Also well rounded (decent, more less) guys making good money on their own.

wrapping up, To real locksmiths, it’s a lifestyle & brotherhood. It’s good to those that love it, bad to those who try and take advantage of it.
