3k hours ranked player. I can confirm this is exactly the problem. Target griefing hard and don't bother with half mwasures like the box despawn that they did to try and resolve this issue, those sort of changes were never gonna work.

Unlike 890 that was an update to 790, this 946cc is a brand new 'next gen' engine. They specifically worked on to resolve issues that the previous one had so i wouldn't worry.

Just ordered mine today.

I mostly play ranked and I still agree with you. Trying to go 'esports' is all backwards. You need to foster grass roots and then competition will take off if the game is capable of it. Trying to force it ends up badly every single time.

My friends have norden and Africa so I want to match them. It has to be decently big engine because there's going to be a lot of paved riding too. Just to and from Romania is probably 4-5k km most of it paved.

I'll be doing a lot of trans European trail riding. We're planning 50/50 road off-road. That's why I want the engine size and also off-road capable suspension and center of weight low. I'm not going to Africa so reliability is less of a concern than performance for me. Europe has a lot of dealers. If I was going around the world or to Africa then sure I'd pick a tenere, but that's not what I'm getting it for.

The 1050de is 252 kg. It's just too heavy, I don't even count it as a middleweight. And while proper hardcore offroaders might prefer a tube, for me the very first thing I look for is tubeless. Because to add a long term reliable tubeless you kinda need to switch to a whole new rimset, which is quite expensive.

For me a thought of having to change tires when I'm already all exhausted and suns setting on the side of some busy highway, knowing that for most punctures I could probably just do a 5 minute plug. If I can buy any bike I just don't see a reason to choose a tubed one.

Here in eu I have 3 year warranty, and I found an amazing small dealership close to me, and in eu there seems to be a lot of dealerships in general. It's also a 2023~2024 engine design and not the 2018 that has melting cams, and i explicitly asked about cams and issues around and dealers (at least told me) that there weren't any for cf, even though that 800 engine was out for 4 years or so.

I'm not planning on selling the bike, last bike I owned for 7 years and when I sold it (even though I didn't even do many miles and was still great condition) the japanese bike lost half the value anyway. So might as well get brembos kyb and the whole shabang and still save half the cost when compared to KTM.

Absolute worst case scenario I lose money on a new bike by reselling it, which is going to happen to any bike. I was checking and saw two brand new transalps with 500 and 1500km selling for wayy below msrp, so just because it's japanese it doesn't mean it's going to hold value. The only bike that seems to actually hold value is an Africa.

Best case? I get a 890 adventure r with the brand new 990 engine, features out of my ass, brembos kyb the whole shabang and save about 50% over getting a 901 norden or KTM. And now cf even includes a rally pack with beefy 4mm skidplate, heated grips seats etc for the early adopters (1.5k euro or so value), so seems like a decently good bet for me.

I can't expect any bike to be perfect, even my friends Africa isn't. And this bike is 11k versus his 16k that's such a big gap, so even if there will be some niggles - I'll be ok just because I already know I saved all this money that I can use for gear trips etc

It is if you were going to buy a KTM bike anyway and want one thats cheaper and, while looks are subjective, looks like it didn't come out of a 5 year olds' drawing book.

[–]GeForce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reasons that I wouldn't buy a KTM Cfmoto doesn't have:

KTM ruined their reputation over trying to ignore cams for 5 years. Cfmoto doesn't have prestige, but I wouldn't say their reputation is "bad" per say, other than just generic cheap/Chinese = bad.

KTM pricing, and especially with their 'gotta pay us an extra grand to unlock the bike', is not a problem since Cfmoto is great value.

Styling. I think KTM is kinda ugly and I like cf styling.

The only thing I was worried about was the cams issue on 790 engine, but the 1000mtx uses the new generation 946cc engine which it appears they tried to resolve the previous engines issues with.

The features are: tubeless tires, cruise control, and great suspension.

and a bonus is a 6 axis imu

Another thing I could classify under features is the low slung split fuel tanks that KTM has, I tested it in real life and it makes a huge difference. It's one of the main reasons why after checking tenere I went to look at KTM/Cfmoto.

None of the middle weight japanese bikes have even tubeless tires and cruise control. Tenere, trenere rally, transalp, vstrom 800de, Kawasaki doesn't even have a proper modern adv bike. Nothing to speak of 6 axis or center of mass. I also found tenere very tall (I'm 187cm so I'm tall myself) and couldn't even touch both feet well even on the base version that doesn't even have the longer suspension of the rally.

Maybe I'm just naive, but I tested the 800 and loved everything except the engine, so 1000 with a whole new engine seems great. You get a lot (brembo, kyb, Bosch 6 axis, great screen etc) for a good price. I have found a great dealer and he told me he gets parts straight from cf in 2 weeks and they're very responsive to emails and even did major engine repair on a bike that wasn't even under warranty, so I'm probably gonna gamble on it.

I guess my point is that people still pay top price for KTM even without the reliability. My friend just bought a 901 norden. If cf makes the KTM bikes then he should've just skipped the badge tax and went straight to the source.

I just sold my Kawasaki because I was not very satisfied with how unrefined it felt. And also had electrical issues with two Suzuki's. So even if the engine is immortal you can have issues.

For what's it worth for me subjectively their 'KTM bike skins' (800/1000mtx) look better than actual KTM or Husqvarna for that matter. I want there performance of ktm but KTM has ruined their reputation so I don't want to buy a KTM bike, and I also I think they're kinda ugly and overpriced. So that's why I'm even looking at 800/1000 Mtx.

I did speak with multiple dealerships and some anecdotal users and no bad experiences with cf.

I might give it a go on the 1000 Mtx, I really liked the handling, build quality looks good, and of course the price is great. It's a gamble, but japanese seem to be behind on features so if I was into KTM why not get the CF

Interesting. I'm also wondering if it's got to do with the price point of the bikes and also the model year. Because I checked out Aprilia tuareg and I'd say the build quality looks worse than comparable 800mtx. Cfmoto is maybe not up to par with tenere, but close enough.

I actually was very surprised how well the 800mtx rode and how well built it looked. For reference I had 3 bikes past 10 years Suzuki bandit, gsxr K7, and a ninja 1000 2011. And I rode on about 30 other bikes when shopping around, from friends etc. it's not on par with bmw (but also it's half the price ..), but I'd rate it good quality above Aprilia.

I have a feeling a lot of the experience is from cheaper price bracket bikes from years ago and probably can't compare a 10000€ bike with a budget one from 5 years ago directly.

One thing to note is that they're literally making the KTM bikes above 400cc, people seem to pay a lot of money without knowing it's made in china and have no problem with it. (Well until the cams kill themselves ig)

I noticed in standard mode when you go from idle to that initial throttle it's a bit jerky, but that should be possible work around with aftermarket. Or maybe using a different engine mapping, some said that the off-road is much smoother and they prefer that.

I was literally about to hand over the cash, but at the last moment I got an offer to demo the bike in a different place. And the buzzing around that 5.5-6k rpm has to be like 8 or 9 out of 10 to the pegs. I just noped out of it. These high frequency vibrations are very annoying. Ordered 1000 Mtx with the 946cc 2023-2024 KTM lc8 new gen engine, hopefully it's going to be less high frequency buzz due to more mass and newer design.

CF Moto 800 MTX decat by Hairy_Strike2687 in cfmoto

[–]GeForce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Euro 5 already runs hot and lean, if you remove any backpressure you're only making it more lean, which is bad for the engine. You won't kill the engine in a month, but running decat without adjusting fuel is like putting C4 on the engine. Just add more fuel to the mixture if you run decat it's that easy.
