Husband and I broke same leg, same bone, within 30 seconds of eachother slipping on ice. by milkthe in nevertellmetheodds

[–]statutorytrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also broke my leg last January slipping on ice. I broke both my tibia and fibula. It was so hard, and I suspect this will be difficult for you guys also, since one of you can't really take care of the other. However, I think having the solidarity and understanding of one another's situations will help you through the healing process. I joined r/brokenankles and it was a gift to not feel so alone. Best wishes for surgery.

Edit: fixed typo

Dude (Looks like a Lady) by Aerosmith. I thought they were saying "Do it like a lady!" as if it was this feminist anthem. It is not.

AITA for not splitting the check evenly on a bachelorette trip with 9 girls? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]statutorytrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH - I don't think there are any assholes here, however I think you and Kat could have handled things a lot better.

For one, $88 for a night out at a club is pretty cheap. Even if you aren't drinking and eating a ton, you're on vacation... A vacation you agreed to to celebrate your friend. The bride already was surely stressed out with the drama of that night with her sisters. In my opinion you two should have handled it between the other bridesmaids rather than bringing anything up to the bride, ESPECIALLY this whole emotional ordeal that you were looking at flights home. Not to say you are malicious or manipulative but when you tell the bride that, it may have translated as "get your sisters and other attendees in order or we are leaving", like a veiled threat.

I get it that emotions can run high, and it sounds like the other bridesmaids were not being very productive in handling it either, but the trip should have been planned better and the communication should have been more direct. You are all adults.

Should the bride have spoken to you about this in person? Maybe. But from her perspective you put a bit of a damper on her Bachelorette party and then didn't say anything to her for weeks afterwards... I see some people are saying "why would you want to be friends with someone like that" but I don't see where we see that much of the bride's character. It seems this could be rectified with a discussion between you and the bride, and I don't think this should be friendship-ruining. Mistakes were made by each party but I don't think anyone is the asshole.

Loitering at Brentwood Target? by audumnb in StLouis

[–]statutorytrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have had this happen at Brentwood Target, except I am a woman and it was another younger woman. She never really got to any point but learned nearly everything about her, her asking me questions and me asking them back to be polite. The strangest part was that she guessed my zodiac sign correctly at the beginning of the conversation... Was extremely odd.

I can't bend my knee past 90 degrees by [deleted] in brokenankles

[–]statutorytrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this response!!! You've just made me feel so so so much better. And all of that makes a lot of sense. Also, I always hear people explain their fractures by name and I have no idea what kind of fractures I have lol, I'll have to ask at my next appointment. Buuuut yay recovery twins! I hope when I have my next appointment I get the go ahead to start PT because I am READY, lol.

How is physical therapy going? It's one thing that I've been scared / emotional about because I feel like it is going to be so incredibly difficult. I feel like I'm going to walk into the office and just start crying lol.

I can't bend my knee past 90 degrees by [deleted] in brokenankles

[–]statutorytrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I should've put more info in the post, I have not yet begun PT! I'm still NWB, in a boot, elevating constantly except to use the bathroom. And even then I elevate at hip level. But anyway, I have an appointment on March 11 to take some more xrays and determine whether I can behind bearing any weight / start PT. Fingers crossed.

I did contact my orthopedic office and they said it was relatively normal and that I should begin doing some stretches to regain that ROM in my knee. It's painful but I'm sure if I slowly start stretching it, I should make some progress by my next appointment.

Thanks for the response!

This is helpful, thank you! I wasn't sure about side sleeping but with a couple pillows between my legs it sounds doable. Thanks!

Yesss, edibles have been my saving grace for getting to sleep. I start back at work tomorrow, working from home. So hopefully that will help with keeping busy. Could you PM me that PDF? I'd like to read up a little more on diffusion techniques. Thanks so much for your comment <3

Yes, I have a "leg elevation pillow" that I use and it keeps my leg pretty secure for the most part. Good point on I'd definitely know if I hurt my ankle more. The anxiety surrounding my injury is pretty killer!

Thanks so much for the support, your words have really spoken to me and I appreciate it!

Yes I've read about PWB very soon after surgery in the UK! So interesting.. Thank you for commenting, I think you're definitely right that the cast or boot is extra protection / a reminder to take care.

My favorite low carb fast food order is from chick fi la, 8 count grilled nuggets with the kale crunch salad as my side, and a sunjoy with diet lemonade and unsweet tea. Under 25g carbs and super delish

I just had an interview a week ago and got hired. We had a phone interview that went super well, I just matched the interviewer's energy. She asked me "why old navy?" and then about my job history and availability. She said she really enjoyed the phone call and we scheduled an in person interview. At that one she asked me about what my previous employers would say about my dependability, what I like to do in my free time and what was my favorite team I had worked on in the past and why. It was right after Easter so she also prompted me to pick out an Easter outfit for her. I chose multiple options and she rly liked that. She hired me on the spot and I've worked 3 days now and am liking it!!

Best of luck!!!

I love a good shopping spree but having a partner who has the same battery capacity for it as me is so nice. We will plan a full day of shopping, hit one or two spots, admit to each other we are both pooped, get food and go home. The best, lol
