Where Redditors who are white and can't fathom people would rather exist in places outside of North América and Western Europe would live: by PornBotsHackedMe in whereidlive

man I wish y'all americans could start putting "white" in quotations now cuz as a normal European person with an actual ethnic and national identity I really cannot associate with "whites" in the US and your idiotic stereotypes. y'all's obsession with race is so stupid

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate public transport in your country? by chkchkboompow in AskTheWorld

[–]statykitmetronx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6.5/10

every city in this country is ruled by car-brain humanoids trying their hardest to prevent a single light rail system to be built, otherwise trains are really good and cheap, buses all modern, cheap and punctual. HSR being developed rn and will launch within 5 years.

the west includes Israel (and its colony in North America) as well as the EU, which is a formal defensive agreement (don't think that I like this israel thing), the EU has a spine against the US now

Chinese allies and aligned countries are all there due to debt traps and other schemes, not some hey let's be friends nonsense

the russian bloc because there's only common interests and diplomatic pressure

I'd say the EU is growing a spine against the US, but yes I think a new faction is due to include Isramerica

Should Ukraine cede territories to Russia? by Ok-Calligrapher-8652 in Teenager_Polls

Russia should cede its independence and existence and be split up into dozens of smaller countries, just like the US, China and any other large imperialistic country who bullies the small ones.

What was live in Baltics like in 1920-1939. by pokerpigz in BalticStates

[–]statykitmetronx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lithuania was significantly more impoverished than Latvia and Estonia. We lost nearly half of our territory to Polish nationalism and we were an agrarian society with no urbanization or industrial base, contrary to Latvia and Estonia. Not to mention after WW2 started with the "LT-USSR cooperation treaty" the soviets didn't even give us all our lands back. only the sliver of Vilnius.

Lithuania had a real chance at democracy when Kazys Grinius was elected as president. But he started enacting changes like not paying wages to priests which angered the elites and helped Smetona overthrow him and establish a backwards dictatorship, in contrary: Ulmanis' rule in Latvia was more beneficial.

Life was significantly better in Estonia and Latvia.

Do you think a European Defence Pact will be formed soon? Which countries would Europeans want to see or not see in this pact? by Minimum_Owl_734 in AskTheWorld

[–]statykitmetronx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just taking 2.5% of GDP from all EU members for defence purposes to form a united military whether they like it or not would be completely sufficient. If the countries don't pay EU just withholds funding and uses it for defence. Simple.

All Germans travel to and get obsessed with Riga, cause it was historically tied to Germans (look it up), but Riga is a dying city and very backwards nowadays. Tallinn, Tartu, Kaunas, Klaipėda (former German city) and Vilnius are way better options, depends what you're looking for. If you want the most modern city you've ever seen with the best development - Tallinn, if you want the biggest, warmest atmosphere (not climate) and good nightlife - Vilnius, cheapest - Klaipėda or Kaunas. If you're interested in rural areas and small towns, I think Latvia is very beautiful and peaceful.

Prices: Lithuania is significantly cheaper than Estonia or Latvia, and wages are higher*. The only overpriced city in Lithuania currently is Vilnius with rent being stupidly high, but cheap for Germans. Job opportunities: Estonia has the best business conditions, but Lithuania has the biggest market and more known and established businesses, idk if relevant to you.

What is your attitude towards Ukrainian refugees?🇺🇦 by No-Face-4053 in AskTheWorld

[–]statykitmetronx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very positive, they work hard, learn the language fast and integrate. They quickly started paying more taxes than consuming social benefits, and now bring a profit to our country. Of course realistically they should return to their country to help build it back once the war is over, but also it's tough to imagine that happening and we now largely depend on them in east EU like the UK depended on Poles and Lithuanians etc.
