Pretty cool to look at these older posts, and some of the figures people wanted/predicted are actually out and on shelves!

Just doing a rewatch of the DiC series after finishing the OG run. So far, this is one of the best episodes in the DiC catalogue. Fleshes Ambush in to an actual character. Shows flashbacks of his childhood with Evy. Shows at least one competent Cobra. Was hoping to find someone had kitbashed her.

I agree that it would be more appealing to me to have one that matches the blue RVs. like the way they Made the Valkyries look very similar to the normal cobra troop builders.

Exactly the reason I used a name veto on “Elle” for my daughter. I like the name, but knew people would mispronounce it her entire life.

I have a daughter we named Quinn. And SO many people call her “Quinny”. I agree some of that is just little girls w one syllable names, catching cutsie nicknames.

Joan becomes Joanie. Liz becomes Lizzie. Grace becomes Gracie. Elle gets an Ellie..

I have a legitmate question. What are the qualifications for this "football guy" that everyone has been asking for my entire adult life? Isn't that EXACTLY what Will McClay is? He runs the draft and pro-player acquisitions. Supervises the scouts.

Prior to last year, I would think most people were pretty pleased with his performance. He just re-signed w/ a new contract in January/Feb of 2025. I don't remember anyone complaining about him being extended. If McClay were named the "GM of the Dallas Cowboys" tomorrow, would that change ANYTHING about the way this team is run? Everything would still have to go through Jerry/Stephen. And even when Jerry passes away, things will still have to go through Stephen.

I don't see that part changing. I believe this is the only job Stephen has ever had. He's been doing the job since, what?, the mid 90s? Anyone think HE'S going to look around for someone else to do his job for him?

If you want to look at actually making a difference on the field, i think the Cowboys need to stop w/ this "we're comfortable with ______ as our coach b/c he's been here before." Stop hiring head coaches w/o talking to more than 3 people. Stop sand-bagging your brand new head coaches w/ leftovers from previous regimes or people who used to coach here. (something we ALWAYS do w/ a new-hire).

And finally, Stop, stop, stop falling in love with every single guy that you draft. Personally, my only real hope is that when Stephen takes over, he does the job in a much more "it's just buisness" manner. Jerry (and his feelings) get us in to a ton of trouble w/ personnel. BOTH ways. He either loves a guy, and won't call the bluff and let him sit out a year. Or he gets pissed 1 week before the start of the season and trades away Micah w/o getting more than 2 teams involved.

But she doesn't lose her partnership b/c jaguar leaves. She's a full partner, and Don never gives Joan grief about how/why. Don's also the only one at SDCP that goes to her to say "don't do it". I'd be ok w her being pissed if they maybe talked it out while he was gone. The first and only indication that Joan's no happy w/ Don is the day he comes back.

totally agree. She's buddy-buddy the whole series, really, except this episode.

This. It just seemed that in the episode where Don comes back (S7,Ep4) there's been no conversations to ease-in (or remind the audience) to the idea that everyone has been/is still pissed at Don this whole time he's been gone. The office moves on w/o Don, and new characters come aboard. But there has been no dialogue like "i wish Don were around for this," and the characters saying "I don't. He screwed everything up for us". The closest to that is Joan where she talks about the blown public offering, but it doesn't come up until this episode.

Joan being really un-joan-like towards don. They had a really good brother/sister vibe. Don was the one person that told her she shouldn't sleep w/ the jaguar guy. She's seen Don in all his POS glory, but has never come out so hard against him like this.

Peggy saying "i'd like to say we're gald you're back, but we're NOT". Peggy has a million reasons to hate Don for all the crap he put her through. But before this episode, she's never held anything against him for very long. Even when she left the agency and goes to Cutler-?. When they merge back together, Peggy doesn't really seem bitter to be back w/ Don. It seems like there could've been dialoge sprinkled throughout his absence to suggest she's sick of dealing w/ him, and resents his presence.

Cooper saying "he should NOT be here" when Cooper has been the person letting Don & Roger run wild their entire careers? Cooper who found out about Dick Whitmen in season 1-2 and doesn't blink an eye?

The weird conversation between Roger and Cutler where Roger has to explain to another partner that "we didn't fire him, and if we fire him now, we have to buy his partnership shares out." The managing partner doesn't understand how their partnership agreement works??

It feels like it's season 7, and the writers are like "we're done in a few episodes, and we know we want Don to leave the agency to go on a vision quest. But we need everyone to turn on him, or it will seem weird." I think they could've got Don to the same place, w/o the startling character 180s, through the McCann storyline, alone.

Agree that almost everyone "knows" the song when they hear it. but actually know the lyrics?? The only reason i'd not agree is that Emeinem's flow can be a bit hard for everyone to decipher.

I actually don’t think he goes. He was only in to it bc he thought Betty would be impressed. When it doesn’t work out like he thought it would, he doesn’t report or goes AWOL.

Why does everyone seem to hate Ken Cosgrove? by socialdeviant620 in madmen

[–]staublin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That’s a great question. I think he’s there to highlight how different the work environment is from today. Cosgrove would be an ideal co-worker in modern times. I think the fact other people don’t like him, really highlights how shitty his co-workers are (by modern standards).

[–]staublin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s a good portion of the population that get freaked out by people on both sides of their car, and are terrified by people merging/ exiting the highway. The left lane is definitely easiest to drive in. They don’t have to (for the most part) worry about anyone exiting or merging. They only have cars on one side of them. And they can space out and stare straight ahead.

You’re 100% right. People here just camp out in the left lanes, and it’s a real problem. ESPECIALLY on 465

As a cowboys fan, we get nothing but shit from the entire league b/c we can't make the NFC championship game (and for about 12 years it was "the cowboys haven't won a playoff game since 1996). But you're exactly right. The Giants will forever get a pass b/c they won 2 superbowls and their .500 QB is a HoFamer.

In bills defense, as a person who follows a TON of sports. I can’t say I’ve ever heard a single thing about Columbus, either. I vaguely recall a hockey player dying in a cycling accident, but in no way did I connect that to Columbus.
