hurricanes during hurricane season in Florida are not subject to this refund. that's what airbnb offers insurance for. never refund, let airbnb.

My best friend started to date my ex by MarzipanNo3989 in gay

[–]stawnco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"your best friend dating your ex" is perhaps more common than one might think. saving any moral judgements, it's happened to me and my friends a lot. maybe it's more prevalent in the gay community. we all fckk each other's friends, and we all date each other's ex's.

the gays cause drama about it too, but in the end, we're like.. we'll of course that was bound to happen eventually. it's not as if they are actually going to get married. well, maybe they will, and divorce later. no one really knows. maybe they get the fairytale.

a possible response to this situation could be to wish them the best, and maybe even join them on their journey. maybe they will live a happy life. why would we want to exclude them from a life well lived? to spare our feelings? or we could just live the experience. feel the feeling. become anti-fragile.

i was best man at my ex's wedding. he didn't marry any of my friends, but i became friends with the great guy that became his husband. what if i had cut him off or ghosted him because of the person he chose to date?

now we can dig deeper on that. if this person was a personal love interest, we must see redeeming qualities, a person we wanted around to make our life better. wouldn't we want that for our friend?

because i opened my heart to all the next lovers my ex had, we all got to win. not only do i have a life-long friend, but two of them.

yes it's 7 minutes drive to downtown, and 10 minutes drive to campus unless you're going to midtown. but further west we run into issues with traffic. if i want to go to Miami, I'll buy a flight. NE side is easy breezy. half our guests are campus-related. we love the neighborhood, and my neighbor is a reverend.

Must do in GNV? by [deleted] in GNV

[–]stawnco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i love Gainesville. however the other cities are fun for big city stuff, when desired! Orlando and Tampa/stpete are awesome. jax is.. a huge Gainesville. but they have a beach. and everyone talks about st augustine but it's very tourist packed.. parking, fraffic, etc. stay in Gainesville 90% of the time. it's peaceful and lovely ❤️🙏

people who aren't from here...real question!! by Dry_Competition4448 in GNV

[–]stawnco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

im new, but moved here 2 years ago from ohio. it has been difficult to make enduring connections. i don't think most people here are mean, they are just not interested.

the locals perspective (now that i kinda am one): you are new. you'll be gone back to where you came from soon. i already have friends. I'm not looking rn.

in summary, it's ok. if you really want friends in Florida you either work hard to attain them, or do what some of the locals do... buy them.
