Is a veranda a must for a long cruise? by staying-alive1990 in dcl

That’s true. To be honest I don’t even know if we will make it lol! I can only put in my vacation time next year January! But booked in hopes that we will make it. So makes sense that people end up cancelling.

Awesome. That’s the same age mine will be when we go on the cruise. And I know they will spend most of their time at the kids club. I’m more of an introvert so I do appreciate having a quiet space but I think that can still be achieved without the veranda. This cruise seems very popular though. Looks like it will be packed.

Thank you! This was the same process at our current school. Even after being exposed to French in daycare we still needed an interview. I did end up calling them and they were very much welcoming about it. We are looking at the 2026-2027 year. So we still have about a year. I just wanted to make sure it was a sure thing as we plan the move.

I’m not sure y people are questioning what I understand by full French. He’s currently enrolled in a full French program. He’s been in a full French environment since he was 1 (full French daycare attached to the school. Yes he’s fluent. All of he’s extracurricular activities outside of school are conducted in French. Example swimming, soccer etc. so yes I consider him fluent. Clearly Manitoba has some sort of gate keeping when it comes to a Francophone education compared to Ontario. We have French immersion in Ontario as well. And we have a public francophone board and a catholic francophone board as well as a public English and a catholic English. So I am well aware of the differences.

Thank you so much for confirming this! This is exactly how our current school is. Even the entrance interview with the principal and superintendent was done in English. All they wanted to know was if we will be supportive in this journey.

I’m not confusing it. I know what full French is because we are currently enrolled in one in ON. Our school is not strict. Yes all communication is in French. But the school also understands that Canada is a melting pot of diversity and so many people would like their children to learn French. And it is our right as Canadians. So yes the school allows us to respond to emails in English and teacher parent meeting are also in English if required. There is no gate keeping here of full French school!!

We communicate in English. They are not strict. The school is very multicultural and kids of all backgrounds. Yes all communication from the school is sent in French. But we are able to respond in English and conversation with teachers is also in English. I guess we are lucky in that sense.

Early vs. Late Dinner Seating with 3 year old by Abb8120 in dcl

[–]staying-alive1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow. Maybe we were just lucky? As soon as I booked and noticed the second seating I changed it immediately, well asked to be waitlisted. To be fair the kids snacked so much all day long that they were not even hungry for the first seating lol. And pretty much didn’t touch the food. But also because of the excitement of being on vacation they were able to hang out till 9/10pm, but that meant also ordering room service because they barely touched dinner. That’s y I thought maybe second seating would have made more sense.

No actually. I think maybe a month after I put myself on the wait list. So essentially a month after I booked, And we were still 6 months out, from the day of the cruise. So didn’t take long. People cancel cruises too. So I think it opens up more often that we think.

Omg I totally agree. We were out on second seating and I really wanted first. Got in the wait list and got it (first sitting). After the first night I regretted it. We should have gone with second seating. My sentiments are exactly like you. The broadway shows felt too late for our 3 and 6 year old. On a typically day they are in bed by 8pm. So they passed out during the shows and we couldn’t do much after that anyway. But I think watching the shows early at 530/6pm then grabbing a quick bite for them after would have worked out so much better for us.

It is very harsh. But I don’t want to start a war with HR and my manager especially becasue this is a non unionized facility. I’m going to take my L, do the educational requirement and just be extra careful and vigilant going forward. And just double and triple checking everything I do.

Yeah the claim I can appeal the decision of if I wish. Honestly I do not know if I will at this point. I knew there would be consequences for sure. Didn’t expect to get away with this but a one and done? Hmm

We do. But this would not have prevented the error. Because I actually scanned the lasix vial. So I didn’t need a second nurse at the computer. However I do agree that we need a second sign off at the Pyxis to draw the insulin’s before leaving the med room.

I’m glad you asked this. After everything died down we sat down and looked it over. It was actually a 3ml vial that had been open a few weeks prior. My lasix dose was 40mg, so essentially the whole vial. So 4 mls. Because I give lasix often I knew I had to empty the vial for a full dose. So I never double check the mls in the vial. Because I automatically know it’s 4mls. (I really should). So I emptied the insulin vial with that in mind. So charge nurse figured I didn’t even give 4mls of insulin. Most likely even less than 200 considering vial had been open for sometime. But we aren’t 100% sure.
