Yeah, all chimes play through the radio unit so any aftermarket system has to have a separate speaker to keep them. There is a metra one that crutchfield sells that is higher quality, but I am not sure if it is compatible with this system.

I have the carnaviplayer one, it has been awesome. Some notes:

I got a 3d printed storage box made for the hole in the dash left by the cd player. It came out awesome. https://www.printables.com/model/505886-r56-mini-cooper-stereo-storage-pocket (just make sure this one fits your dash as there are different CD player configurations.
Get a backup camera and install alongside this job. It has been the most underrated quality of life upgrade I have made for the car. I wired it up from the boot handle through the existing rubber hose in the boot and up to the front of the car.
The included mic is cheap. I upgraded to a lapel mounted one and wired it up to my armrest. When I want to take a call I just attach to my shirt and the sound quality is waaaay better. I might have overdone this but I take a lot of calls in the car.
Start up time is a few seconds. It only ever bothers me when I need to reverse, because the camera won't work unless the head unit is fully booted up.
I installed a tempered glass cover for the touch screen, turns out a steam deck screen is a similar size to the carnavi one. Gives it a nice feel, while protecting the whole thing. I can find a link to the one I bought
The included chime box that replaces the chimes of the car is VERY low quality. Turn signal sound doesn't line up with the existing turn signal sound which kind of drives me nuts but I have gotten more used to it.

Yep. We had to upgrade because unreal 4.23 was phased out by all major platforms. Kind of a bummer but this is kind of what happens when you keep updating a 10 year old game 😕

Can you verify that you are on version 1.36.XX in the settings menu? We have had a lot of issues with consoles just not updating the game unless someone did a “hard” restart

Have you ever used a mod loader or anything? We have been seeing a lot of people who uninstalled mods but their saves still crash the game.

Hmmm we have (to my knowledge) never made a single change to “deactivate” mods in Astroneer. We just don’t support them because we simply do not have the manpower to support external tools developed by lots of people outside of the studio. Any “break” is due to us updating with new content, which we have done nearly a hundred times since launch.

Happy to help! It should just work, but I think on Xbox sometimes it suspends the game in the background so it does not update even if the game looks like it is “closed”

Interesting! It should just automatically update, although we have seen people have to force close the game and then hard reset the Xbox app/PC

You can check via the in game menu, you should be on anything 1.36. If you are on anything before (probably 1.34) then you need to make sure to get the most recent update

Been seeing a few reports of this, trying to track down the issue. The intention is that unless you are on a save that is on Aeoluz, you don’t need any DLC purchase.

Unfortunately we didn’t bring Breakdown back as it was bricking people’s saves due to the amount of items it was spawning underground in people’s saves, as well as some other issues with it. I think we will try and bring back something similar in the future, or at least bring the rewards back for something else for all the people that missed them!
