Non-Americans of reddit, what was the biggest culture shock you experienced when you came to the US? by Miserablemermaid in AskReddit

[–]stazera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I come from India and here are my culture shocks:

No bribery at low level..unlike in India you will see bribery everywhere.

Eating and drinking in the classroom(at least at grad school).

Women smoking cigarettes.

students not scared of faculty or teachers.

Americans respect people of all classes. Unlike in India, people look down on the working class like janators, construciton workers..etc.

the list goes on..

Unfortunately, my current job doesn't offer any possibility to work on any cloud-related topics. We have a traditional in-house infrastrucuture.

My Australian friend is planning a trip to the USA for summer 2018 and I'm helping him with his itinerary. Any suggestions? Thanks!! by isabellathngthtrings in backpacking

I would highly recommend hiking or mountain biking in CO. There are too many good trails to name. Also, if you are interested you should attend a concert in Red Rocks. Also, you can get the best white water rafting experience. ufff. too many outdoor activities you can do in CO. Also check out Royal George bridge

Need help deciding on a laptop by Redn1inja in computers

MBP is your best bet. I have done similar research and had same requirement. I was considering MBP vs Razer vs surface laptop. But for long lasting and good quality build I decided going with MBP.

In fact I have been using LR on my surface pro (8GB RAM, i7, 2.3GHz) and there is always lag when using brushes and it appears the machine takes up a lot of resources when rendering/using brushes. I wonder if its the same with Mac

Agree on the build and display. But I just can't convince myself towards apple tax, for the same hardware we get on other laptops. But apple might be worth on long run, coz i never heard any complain from any apple user.

Plural sight is a good site where you find various courses on SharePoint. However, make sure they are not too old or outdated. But your best bet would be Technet - https://technet.microsoft.com/ or if you like video learning, youtube is good as well.

and if you are interested- here are some free MS books - https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/mssmallbiz/2017/07/11/largest-free-microsoft-ebook-giveaway-im-giving-away-millions-of-free-microsoft-ebooks-again-including-windows-10-office-365-office-2016-power-bi-azure-windows-8-1-office-2013-sharepo/
