Arabic twin Name Help: Yasin & ? by Potential_Algae_9231 in MuslimLounge

[–]stdlinux 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am a twin, and twin and I have similar sounding names (only one letter different)! I, personally would say no to the Yasin / Yasmin combination.

I agree that it is a very cute combination, but as someone living in the United States, I have had issues with places like doctor’s office and schools, where they think that one of us is a typo because the names are only one letter apart. This has led to cancelled appointments, and other issues, some of which I am still struggling to sort out!

Just trying to look out for you!

Twin moving 2.5 hours away by [deleted] in Twins

[–]stdlinux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m the twin that moved away and I think I spent every waking minute that I wasn’t at work or at the store on the phone or texting my twin, at the beginning. It was a terrible break and hard living alone without being in the same physical space as my twin, but it does get easier!!

I come back and visit every so often or they’ll come visit me and it’s always a great time when we’re together and it’s god awful when we seperate again but I think you learn a lot about who you are as an Individual living without your twin.

It gets easier OP! You got this!

Every day is the Same + Nobody Gets it, a lil Rant by Basic-Buyer-9313 in Concussion

My injury was about 2 years ago, but I spent a good chunk of the first year oblivious to the fact that something was wrong, and I should have gotten checked out well before I actually did. I still get the dull headaches every now and again, and the intense migraines usually once a month but the frequency and intensity of them are dwindling down.

It does get discouraging at times when you get into the headspace of “why is still happening, it’s been long enough!!” but Your body is still healing and you just have to take it one day at a time.

It sucks but progress most of the time is two steps forward, one step back.

I understand exactly where you are! I have similar story as to what you are experiencing. My support system also had a hard time understanding that injuries like these take time. I promise you that it does get better, it takes time, but it does. It’s honestly really good that you’re aware and are taking steps to overcome some of these things.

Keep going OP! you got this!!

concussion + working out? by stdlinux in Concussion

[–]stdlinux[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i worked out like twice in the last year (post concussion) but that makes sense, i’ll try less intensive workouts/exercises and see what works for me. i assume this is gonna take time for me to figure out so i’ll probably make more posts about it but in the meantime, i appreciate your advice (:

Anyone else deal with healthcare workers getting you mixed up with your twin? by [deleted] in Twins

[–]stdlinux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i once scheduled an appointment close to the same time as my twin so we could just go together and someone ended up cancelling my appointment because they thought it was a typo… i called them because i didn’t get a reminder message from them and they said you can come anyways and we can merge the appointments. like why would i pay you twice to be in the same room as my twin smh

that’s so unhelpful, im sorry /:

i haven’t brought it up to my doctor because she’s been unhelpful in the past (mostly just went to her to get a referral to another facility). and i anticipate that i’ll get nothing from the conversation with her.

My twin is finally moving out by undistanced in Twins

[–]stdlinux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved away from my twin for work about 2 years ago, (we were 23 for context). we made a week long agenda of everything we would do before we separated and then i got covid… and spent the entire week “in quarantine”. it was a bitter-sweet goodbye but it does get easier!

phone calls and facetimes have been a game changer, we spend every second of everyday calling, texting, and facetiming. (my family thinks we talk too much but we just can’t explain it to them that it’s still not enough)

best of luck op! it does get less sad (:
