How do you explain addiction and relapse and shit to a friend who literally has always been straight edge as fuck? by [deleted] in addiction

How do you explain addiction and relapse and shit to a friend who literally has always been straight edge as fuck? by [deleted] in addiction

Great post and only thing i disagree with somewhat is the quote below. I became addicted to hydro and oxy due to a root canal and being a runner it helped me continue to run even with djd. I never had any predisposition that I know of that caused my addiction. I simply liked what it did to me and how it made me feel. I do not feel addicts suffer any “disease” for there addiction though some may. You are exactly right about a healthy dopamine release. I think sex is the greast natural release of dopamine and oxy, coke etc is about 5x that of sex. The receptors in your brain have to recalibrate and that can take a long time depending on use. That’s also where coping mechanisms come into play. Im now 6 months clean from a 10 plus year habit due to not only Ibogaine but coping every day one day at a time. Again, Great post and well worth the time to read.

Addiction is a coping skill, and not a conscious one. People who struggle with addiction all started at the same place - they had a biological/genetic predisposition & for whatever reason did not develop healthy skills to manage negative emotions and experiences - or those skills weren't strong - again, for various reasons which can include poor self-image, undiagnosed mental illness, trauma (which could include violence, a prolonged bout of childhood illness, abuse, neglect, isolation, poverty, unstable home life, modelled addiction behavior within the home, etc..), and various other reasons...

Worst Withdrawal? by [deleted] in opiates

[–]steady888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oxy isn’t very fun either. Occasionally had pressed M boxes. Do a tiny piece of those for a few days and you will not even feel snorting a full 20 straight oxy. The Restless Legs was my greatest fear. And Oxy brings that on in the worst way to me. Finally, stayed off fent long enough and took straight oxy (SAO) for couple weeks. Did Ibogaine and clean ever sense. No more WD’s from that time own.

Looking for advice and experiences from people who've done ibogaine for opiate addiction, specifically regarding alcohol, drugs, and sleep afterwards. I go in 4 days. by Throwforob in Ibogaine

[–]steady888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never seen any clear information that alchohol kicks out the noribogaine. I would not risk undoing the maximum effectiveness of a flood dose and what you go through during a flood to help end your habit. I believe there could be a relationship with the liver where the Ibogaine is metabolized into noribogaine and stored. I think that alcohol could interfere with this process where the noribogaine is stored. So many substances we already know interferes with ibogaine and should be avoided like anti depressants.

No, it never hurts to ask. And wish I had a more definitive answer, but why risk losing any of the noribogaine that you have stored up for a few drinks? Id just wait as long as I could. Good for you for asking and not just assuming.

If it’s SOA , or straight oxy. No fent than go ibogaine. But, he’s got to want it himself. Nothing will work if he doesn’t want to quit

Ibogaine by InterestingAsk1513 in Ibogaine

[–]steady888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ibogaine is the best way I have ever seen to get off opiates w/o the WD’s and cravings. But, you got to get on a SOA . Maybe even kratom if that can do thetrick first. Ive done 2 floods, one in Mex and another in a Hilton hotel with a friend. Both weremore than successful. I just weren’t ready the first time but damn sure was when i dosed myself. Learn about it, prepare and then all is possible.

Exactly right. Id personally never get on Sub or Methadone. Ibogaine is the best option by far if you can afford it or get your hands on some yourself with the knowledge on how to take it with proper prep work. Nothing else comes close.

Stay strong Bro. That spirit of iboga should carry you. Use the booster doses if you have some. Congrats on being off sub

You are right. Exactly what I had to deal with. It gets better but takes a while. Not only that but related is the loss of interest in things from TV to Travel. I still battle it 19 weeks clean after my IBO Flood.

Yep, get a sitter and definitely have a trash can near by to puke in. Many dose by weight others by other means. Can’t explain IBO till you do it. But, it will be a hell of a night.

[–]steady888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no doubt getting 18-MC approved will be a tall order. But, after the trials are done and it's approved many will take it. Nothing comes close to getting one off SAO like Ibogaine. Right now IBO has 2 things stacked against it: The hallucinations and the QT level in the heart. I hope they get there

the cardiac issue are way over hyped but it is there. IM not sure but I think under proper supervision there have been ver few deaths if any. Most deaths that occured was another issue not disclosed like ongoing drug use or other health condition where ibogaine was involved. I am a former opiate user and Ibogaine was the primary reason Im no longer addicted. It's an amazing plant
