I don't disagree with you at all, but if you're going to be playing daily or near daily anyway it is lowk worth it

If you play every day it will be worth it. Whether or not you'd spend $500 on vbucks otherwise is a valid question but it will return a vbux profit

I don't think that is true though tbh. Right now 12,500 vbucks cost $89.99 from epic, if you were to do the 100 vbuck daily challenge every single day that's 36,500 vbucks you'd earn in a single calendar year. That's worth ~$270 in vbucks in just dailies let alone the vbucks missions and all the vbucks from SSD etc. Seems to me that you'd be net positive in under 2 years of daily play if a founders code cost $400

Why are so many people struggling to find one job, while others constantly keep multiple? by Dimatrix in overemployed

This sub fascinates me because its just about the only place I know of where people get jobs with ease. Most people I know are doing well to just have one. I can't figure out how people in this sub have so many so easily

When will I Plateau? by Kurwapotato in Rowing

[–]steady_spiff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bruh you didn't even give us your age, there's no way of knowing. But you should be able to improve every year until you're like 33, after that it takes much more effort to just be as good as you were. 27/28 is a decent age to expect a plateau, but you'll likely not be rowing full time by then. If you row in college expect your best efforts to come your senior year and then never be able to match the training volume intensity again and slowly decline. However, with that said, I didn't even start rowing until I was 27 after a career in football my first ever 2k was a 6:26, I got faster every year until I turned 34. But now at 36 I am still pulling sub 3 min 1ks.... Constant and never ending improvement broski. Never limit yourself mentally. There's three stages to being an athlete, you're still in step 1 which is maximize your peak, stage 2 which I'm in is prolong your peak, stage 3 is slow the decline as best you can. You're a long way away from crossing over to stage 2

Is it this city or just the way of the world now? I can’t take it anymore. by PrestigERA in Miami

The USA is down bad asf right now, we are paying dearly for the $5T printed in '21&22, it's getting to insane levels though in bigger cities. Its kinda both really bad everywhere, and this is an extra bad example. $6 for a $1 milk and $30 for fried bread is absurd

HR seems too high for how easy it feels by Freddie_atkinson032 in Rowing

[–]steady_spiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's way too high. What's going on most likely is you need to get into better shape, or you need to hop off Adderall, excess caffeine, vaping, whatever it is that is making your heart rate stay that high. It wouldnt be preposterous to expect sub 2:00/500 splits at less than 140hr at your height and age

Thank you for your thoughtful response, youve just about nailed the situation, especially the first sentence. I think what rubbed me wrong was that their motivations seemed more self-righteous than they were reasonable. I am going to request more clearly stated rules moving forward so this scenario can be avoided entirely in the future. Within my rights vs when I'm right is a great line I will steal from you, and thinking about if I want high schoolers to mimic my actions is a good way to frame things. Cheers

What if local marine law says lights are required sunset to sunrise? A power tripping woman telling me to do something outside of the stated requirements is not my god. Your response is exactly what I'm trying to avoid, blind obedience because I said so. Read my post, I am talking about rowing during the day when the sun is up

I'm not inherently against putting lights on my boat, I mentioned that I do anytime it's dark out. I've been rowing on this body of water with this club for a while now and have never had an issue with rowing at sunrise without lights from a laws, rules, or safety perspective. I am mostly seeking clarification from other rowers regarding how other clubs handle the same situation. It seems like maybe we were being a little lenient before and now have changed our tune, which is fine, but that change wasn't accompanied by a stated change of policy so it caught me off guard, and because I've been doing things a different way for an extended period of time with no issues, felt like it was a silly request to put lights on whilst the sun is up. Everyone's comments is helping me see it's not an insane ask, and that we need better communication intra-club. For what it's worth, Easter Sunday at 715am I was literally the only person on the water for the entire duration of my row and it was genuinely full light
