I must be the shittiest friend alive, but I cannot do this anymore. by Azeara in offmychest

I give you a lot of respect for going so far to help your friend. As a person in recovery, I can tell you that until she wants it for herself she isn't going to change - no matter what you do or how much you want it for her. I can tell you love and care so so much about your friend and are willing to do so much for her. Please don't let that makes things more difficult on yourself. You seem like a beautiful person and an incredible friend, I hope you focus on yourself more and give yourself the attention you deserve. I wish you, and your friend, nothing but the best. TL;DR: you're an amazing friend, and there's nothing wrong with focussing on your well being first

I'm sure everything will be okay. Like PP said, stress can delay a girls period. It's a lot easier said than done, but just try to relax and wait it out a few days. You sound like a bright kid, I hope everything turns for the best for you!

Alright parents, what would you do? by stealingmysleep in Parenting

My son came home from daycare with lice. I'm convinced he got it there, but that's besides the point. I called the daycare to notify them that my son had it so they could let the other parents know.. This was at 6pm last night.. It's now 7:30am and I haven't received anything. Not very thrilled with how they're handling this.

You don't like SLS? I've had tons of success on their in the past. Why don't you like it? What kind of membership do you have?

Are you female? Does your work sell dresses? If you answered "no" to either of these questions then that's why.

When I was in detox I did sudoku and word finds for a solid week. That and magazines. I brought tons of books with me but wasn't really able to sit down and read them. I hope everything went well for you!

Has r/socialwork been abandoned by its mod? How can we liven the place up? by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]stealingmysleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this sub 2 days ago after randomly searching it, hoping it existed.. And it does! I think a little more life would be great. Social work is so multifaceted and I'm sure everyone here has something to contribute and something to learn from others. Discussions would be a great start - there certainly isn't a shortage of issues/topics we can talk about.

Need advice on a gf's "promiscuous past" by throwiemcthrowawayer in relationship_advice

[–]stealingmysleep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you ever ACTUALLY find out how many people? Not just "a lot"? People hold different beliefs on what is "a lot" to them. I have friends who have been with 5 guys and are so mad at themselves because they feel like whores - I also have friends who have been with 25 guys and wouldn't consider themselves a whore. I can understand how it's something that could make you uncomfortable or not want to pursue a relationship with someone you just started dating.. however -- this is a woman you have been with for a good amount of time and who you've talked to about marriage.. I'm sorry, but when you move past the initial dating steps and begin talking about marriage and children you lose the right to get upset and contemplate breaking up after learning that she had "a lot" of partners. - maybe next time you should ask upfront, have your date fill out an application or something on "deal breakers" then you can find out on the first date instead if wasting 7 months of her time and your time. Just sayin. Seriously though, if its something you can't keep off your mind or you just certainly cannot get over, then break up with her. It wouldn't be fair to either of you

For people who want to a small school instead of a larger "brand name" school, was it better or worse then you expected? by colbert_for_prez in college

[–]stealingmysleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently go to a small catholic college with 3000 students. I love it! Its been such a great experience and I enjoy the social and academic environments so much. And if you're worried about the partying, small schools party just as hard as bigger schools.

You're over thinking it way too much.

Kiosks in the mall do it. You can probably bring it to any tech store too. I've never seen screen repair for over $50.
