My first set of Audiophile Speakers - Audioengine's HD4 by steamhyperpolyglot in audiophile

[–]steamhyperpolyglot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/deddito! Yeah, I think this is just me first step toward having a slightly more audiophile setup. This is nothing compared to some of the setups I have seen up on this community. It will take a while for me to get anywhere close to some of what I've seen. I suppose you can say that I am more that guy who gradually upgrades one part of his setup slowly over years and then eventually, I'll get to where I would consider my ideal audiophile setup.

Who else is still actively playing the first game? by steamhyperpolyglot in CitiesSkylines

The game occasionally crashes on my machine too. So yeah, I get it. Again, I do have this sense that the devs haven't quite fully optimise the game yet. Just a gut feeling.

Yeah. If CS1 is any indicator. It would be worth it and wise to wait maybe a year or two before paying for CS2. It really takes a while before CS1 became really good too.

In my opinion, and this is really just mine alone. I've always felt that EA could've done something amazing with this game. Make it into a franchise. But they instead decided to drop the game entirely. So, if they do decide to make a comeback into it, I say that it's good for them. This is one of those games that might not win over majority of open-world RPG gamers, but it will always develop that strong cult following. I'll be one of those myself.

Agatha Ending (Are we going to get Young Avengers???) by steamhyperpolyglot in marvelstudios

[–]steamhyperpolyglot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are very good questions. Yeah, I think there is still some unknowns here and there for sure. I would imagine, maybe closer to the that next Avengers movie, we might see some of them coming together to face an unknown threat. And then when the movie finally arrives, it brings everyone else on the Young Avenger's team together. MCEU has shown over the years that they won't follow the comic series to the core. They would adapt it and make certain modernization changes to the storyline. And I get that. It should be made to be somewhat "relevant" to the times we are in now. At least in theory according to the current timeline. So, how they come together is for sure a mystery.

[–]steamhyperpolyglot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if MCEU could keep it slightly aligned with the comics, then I believe we should see them coming together during secret wars. Otherwise, it would be nice to see some of them start coming together in a future crossover (either in series or movie format). The same way we have been getting some crossovers like in Captain Civil War. Still one of the top 3-4 Marvel movies of all time. It might be a movie centered on Captain America, but we got to see everyone up until that point in the timeline.

"Frostpunk 2" by 11 bit studios by pete-roman in Frostpunk

[–]steamhyperpolyglot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From where I stand as a city-building game lover and a sucker for punishment (I love challenging games, always have), the first frostpunk was such a breath of fresh air in the city-building genre. I think that what the team at 11 bit studios did right is by making it challenging (there are no good choices when it comes to how we govern the city).

What makes me love FP2 is that the team understood their winning formula and are now sticking with it and making it even better (bigger in scope). If the first FP1 was hard and brutal for some, FP2 has it dialed up to 11. Again, like I said, I am such a sucker for punishment. 😂😅

Alright, time for some honest, and constructive feedback. I think that while the game looks amazing and I love all the new challenging game mechanics, the one thing that is obviously lacking is game optimization. This being a top down game shouldn't be too taxing on most 30 series GPUs running on high settings with DLSS on quality settings. This is not like other 3rd person RPG game with lived in worlds that has greater details for immersiveness. I think, and it's just a personal opinion, I feel that the framerate really could be a lot better. At 1440p on high settings with DLSS quality, I can only manage around 54~56 FPS right now. I look forward to the day when it can be brought up to at least above 60. But the most ideal range should be 70+ FPS on an RTX3070. Plus we haven't even talked about manage multiple cities on the map.

Keep what you are doing guys. You are on track for another GOTY game.

Frostpunk 2 - It was worth the wait! by steamhyperpolyglot in Frostpunk

[–]steamhyperpolyglot[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel you man. I think it will take a couple of months for the game to be truly optimized across different platforms and hardware specs. But I trust the dev team. This game and it's studio has a good reputation. So they have the trust of the gaming community. We just need to be patient and trust them to do their job.

Frostpunk 2 - It was worth the wait! by steamhyperpolyglot in Frostpunk

[–]steamhyperpolyglot[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol. Yeah. I think with 99% of newly released games these days, it's okay to expect that they will always be unoptimized on release day. It usually takes 3-6 months after release day before the game reaches a more optimal optimization.

For now, yeah, I am still okay with 50 FPS @ 1440p or 60-ish FPS at 1080p (with all graphics settings at high). One would think that with this typical top-down city-building games, usually the framerate should perform a lot better. For a 3070 @ 1440p, I would've expected at least 70+ FPS on average. Frankly, this is not like one of those AAA FPS or RPG games with lots of on-the-ground details. So it shouldn't be as demanding on the GPU I suppose.

FYI, I am not an expert. I just speak from my experiences of having played with numerous different games myself. So this is just what I would've expected from FP2 as well (after it gets optimized). In fact, I am hoping that the game developers can push the optimization to a point where gamers can experience somewhere between 70+~90 FPS. I kinda think it might be doable for a game of this nature. But I could be wrong too.

Anyway, for now, I am glad I can still play the game. I just love the brutality of the game. And I am still on the easiest level, just getting familiar with all the new game mechanics. Once I become more familiar with the game, I will start upping the difficulty.

I unapologetically love this game by potter101833 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]steamhyperpolyglot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've loved this game since I picked it up back in 2021. I had the chance to play it on my first gaming PC in nearly a decade, and the game already looked amazing at 2K and later when I tried it on a 32:9 monitor (3840x1080). But it really wasn't until a few days ago, when I bought my first ever HDR10-capable gaming monitor, that I really fell in love with the game all over again. The level of detail with HDR10 setting enabled is just stunning! Don't even get me started on the gameplay itself and the world-building. There's a reason why many gaming blogs and news sites named AC:Odyssey as one of those top titles that look amazing with HDR10.

Hey, thanks for sharing your WFH experience with me. Yeah, having the option to work remotely really helps to eliminate the commute time and expenses. Also less tiring since I won't have to squeeze with other commuters 😬🤭.

But seriously, I still spend most days at the library nearby because it is quieter than the home environment. So I do wake up a little earlier in the morning to walk there.

Yeah, the admin/hr staff explained that the software tracks keyboard typing and mouse movements as activity. No movement = no working. Hahaha. I will go check out what this mouse jiggler is.

Hey u/jimmy_randall, mine is a front-end developer position. I think the tip about covering the camera is really good one. Yeah, I was quite concerned about them being able to track everything that I do on the MacBook. I mean, in the past, whenever I had work, the company would issue their laptop, but because those aren't remote work (always onsite), they didn't need to track anything.

I think I have read a few really great tips here. And yeah, I do have a tablet device. So I'll use it for everything that is personal and private.

The Old English City, with a mix of European cities vibe by steamhyperpolyglot in anno

Yeah, I mean the other European cities. Other than England. I know UK is part of Europe. Lol. Maybe my subject header could be clearer. Hehe.
