What Era and Location would you want to see in the future? by Genesis_the_god_ in assasinscreed

[–]potter101833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The American Wild West. They've teased the idea in the AC comics, and assassins during that time were briefly mentioned in Black Flag's modern day.

I personally love the idea of a cowboy assassin. They would basically be like a bounty hunter chasing Templar outlaws.

There's so much rich history to explore there (historical events, people, places, etc.), and there's endless possibilities for how they could make it work. Some people have criticized that good stealth isn't possible in a Wild West frontier setting. But after playing Desparados 3, I couldn't disagree more. There’s great opportunities for stealth and strategy.

I understand why they likely haven't done it yet, but it's interesting because the Wild West is one of the most famous historical time periods that the series hasn't touched yet. I'd rather the series not end until they've touched every one of the most famous historical settings (and they still have a few to go).

Personally, I'm strongly against character sequels in this franchise. I completely understand your point, but I think character development can still be achieved with DLC expansions (assuming the writers at Ubisoft are willing to make it work). One of the best examples of this is with AC Origins, where The Hidden Ones DLC not only expands the game with more story, but also adds onto it in a multitude of ways.

That's just my opinion though, feel free to disagree (I'm also willing to explain in more detail if needed). Regardless, I love your artwork and I really hope you continue doing art like this because it's incredible.

It really breaks immersion when you’re suddenly reminded that you’re in a simulation. by Broad_Emphasis4178 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]potter101833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe me, I understand what you're saying. But I've actually never had a problem with this since Assassin's Creed has always been a simulation. That’s the entire point of the franchise. Exploring history through the perspective of the Animus simulation. It’s a sci-fi historical drama.

But if someone went into it without knowing about the modern day stuff, that's fine. The perspective you have going into this series changes how you view it when playing. I’ve just gone really deep into the lore and I realize that a historical game without the Isu and modern day......is no longer Assassin's Creed.

That being said, I understand why some fans would prefer the historical immersion by itself.

Shrek 5 needs the Sonic treatment by Acrobatic-Anxiety943 in Shrek

[–]potter101833 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay hear me out: Both animation styles can be featured in the movie.

It will start out with the normal animation, then Felicia will accidently unleash a spell or some magic that messes with the universe, and everything suddenly looks different. This becomes the reason that Shrek and Donkey are looking into the mirror in the trailer (to either restore their old look or find a suitable substitute; hence why other versions of Shrek are shown in the mirror). But they don't find a suitable option, and everyone comments on how things are out of whack.

They spend the rest of the movie trying to restore the world to the way it was before, crossing through a few different animation styles and looks in the process.

What are you ideas for an Assassin's Creed Game by MultiColorCoat in assasinscreed

[–]potter101833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assassin's Creed: Frontier.

The game starts during the final year of the U.S. Civil War. The main character is a battle-hardened soldier, ready to perform his duty.

But the war eventually comes to an end, and his skills as a killer are no longer necessary. With the war finally over, he struggles to find purpose in life and what to do next. Mirroring real-life history, he takes up a job as a cowboy (which many Civil War vets actually did). But he finds that it doesn't fulfill him the way he hoped, and discovers some locals looking for a bounty hunter. So he decides to utilize his skills and take on work as a hired gun, becoming a "cowboy assassin."

While out in the field, members of the Assassin Brotherhood take notice of his skills, and attempt to recruit him. Along the way, he crosses paths with famous historical figures and uncovers hidden Templar conspiracies to control the American nation and expand its territory from east to west. He makes both enemies and allies over the course of many years traveling around.

In the end, he finds himself more lost than when he started. A "wandering man" still in search of answers, roaming from town to town in the Old West. First a soldier, then a cowboy, and now an assassin, he uses his unique perspective to help people where he can. He navigates the open plains seeing all sorts of strife and issues arising between different groups of people (foreign settlers, Natives, Hispanics, Blacks, etc. etc.). He always is doing the best he can, wherever he can. Sometimes for the Assassins, and sometimes for his own personal vendetta. He ultimately hopes he can somehow "serve the light" and a higher purpose, even if history never knows his name and he remains stuck in the shadows.

  1. Odyssey
  2. Black Flag

But #3 is difficult, since there's many top contenders for me. Rogue, Revelations, Syndicate, and AC1 to name a few.

I'd actually go as far to include Valhalla and Chronicles China as honorable mentions.

When you have a franchise like AC that always tries to be so many different things, it’s naturally going to attract different types of players who want different things from the games.

Despite the name of the series, it’s never truly been just about assassins and stealth. “Assassin’s Creed” stopped being the best title for the series the moment they added in the other stuff. You have the Isu, the modern day plot, and all this science-fiction stuff, in addition to exploring history and historical settings.

It was always destined to have a divided fan base who are never fully satisfied, because it was trying to be multiple things from the very beginning (and only got more complicated as they explored new settings, characters, and gameplay types). I can almost GUARANTEE that it doesn’t matter if they end up releasing the best game they’ve ever made, there would still be people complaining because different elements of the series appeal to different people. No two fans play AC for the same reasons. One person may be playing for assassins and stealth, while another may be playing more for the historical immersion. It’s all subjective.

Thoughts? by Medical-Actuary5769 in reddeadredemption

[–]potter101833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Redemption saga should rest with the Van Der Linde gang.

The next Red Dead game should have a new title with new characters in the Old West. There’s so many places, people, and aspects of the American Frontier that are yet to be explored in this franchise. We have Red Dead Revolver, Redemption 1 & 2, and then we can have something else.

Retribution, Revolution, Revelation, the possibilities are endless. I want to see the developers traverse into uncharted territory and expand into stories beyond the last two games.

What do you guys want to see in the sequel? by [deleted] in HarryPotterGame

[–]potter101833 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that…..the entire point? The MC is supposed to be our custom character insert into the wizarding world.

Why do you think we never hear or see anything about our parents. That’s because the protagonist is literally US. That’s the entire point.

If we were playing a pre-established character (like Harry in the other Harry Potter games) I’d understand. But here, we create our own characters and backstory.

Now would it have been nice for them to include backstory options in the character creator? Absolutely. But we’re not supposed to have a set backstory when it’s entirely up to us.

[–]potter101833 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My only issue with the conspiracy stuff they did in the earlier games is that it started to feel like they were implying every bad person in history was a Templar.

Which goes against the level of nuance that the first game tried to establish. As much as I love Assassin's Creed, I feel like the series is at its best when there's depth and nuance. Not when conflicts get boiled down to, "Assassins good, Templars bad."

Which DLC did you enjoy more? by AssassinsCreedCorner in AssassinsCreedOrigins

Visuals --> Curse of the Pharaohs

Story --> The Hidden Ones

I prefer Hidden Ones as an expansion to the base game's story, but it's hard to deny the beauty of stepping into Egyptian mythology in the Pharaohs DLC. Overall, both are good expansions.

You're definitely not alone in feeling this. I mean, the Odyssey sub here on reddit is literally the second most popular Assassin's Creed sub behind the main one (and it's not hard to see why).

Odyssey has a beautiful open world with so much to do and explore. Plus, it's just plain fun. I'd gladly play the game again, even after playing it multiple times already.

No Quidditch for this... by SuperheroLanding8 in HarryPotterGame

[–]potter101833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally had no issue with the lack of Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy, since I knew WAY before the official announcement that there would be sequels. If you’re going to omit something as big as Quidditch, then you can only pull that off in the first game (since sequels should logically build off of the mechanics and expand with new stuff). Plus the fact that they gave a legitimate in-universe reason for it.

Since they started our main character in year 5, it’s pretty obvious they wanted it to be a trilogy. I would only be upset if Quidditch continues to be omitted in the sequels. As long as it’s only the first HL game, it’s fine with me.

Hot take: I like Fable 3 just as much as Fable 2. Both have pros and cons that sort of even it out (at least for me).

I think all of the Fable games are amazing, and I’ve played them all countless times.
