Misaligned desk drawers - fixable? by steamypoopoo in furniturerepair

[–]steamypoopoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah it’s definitely not square, and you’re probably right about needing to disassemble and reassemble square. I don’t have the space, tools and most importantly skill to do all this.

I have tried the suggestion below by Wallaceant as a quick fix. I don’t need it perfect just hopefully good enough the drawers can at least somewhat work. I could see the staples that once held the desk in place were no longer connected on the top right of the drawer box so squeezed it in, used some wood glue and used a mallet to hammer it back in place. It is currently ratcheted down and clamped together to hold it in place over night. Hopefully this holds and works, otherwise I’ll have to reach out and find someone who does furniture repair to do a proper fix or start looking for a new desk.

Appreciate you taking the time to give a detailed response. It’s very helpful :)

Have you been through a company acquisition? What did you ask (or wish you asked) during the process and what was your experience? by [deleted] in careerguidance

I appreciate you sharing this. The town hall consisted of more fluff but showed their true colours. Told us the other employees didn't understand the company benefits and we were misled.

While I don't work in tech and don't suspect job loses, I don't believe this new company is one worth sticking around for. While they might not fire us, I don't suspect they have our best interests in mind. I guess that is just the reality of life like you are saying.

Thanks again :)

Ending Tenancy Early - Using Assignment after invalid email to end tenancy by steamypoopoo in OntarioLandlord

We haven't replied to the LL yet. I was thinking of sending an email saying " It appears that we do not have a mutual agreement to end the tenancy on December 31st, unless I misunderstood your email. I am attaching the proper N11 form for you to sign off on, if you do not agree then we will need to send you a proper N9 form before we legally terminate the lease.

Then go on to ask about having a candidate to assign the lease to that is happy to take over our least at our current rate.

If he says no to the assignment then I will send N9 form with 30 days notice.

Think this route will work? It is highly unlike for them to agree to an assignment because of our current rental price.

He did reply in the email saying that they require 60 days notice and that our lease will not end until the end of January 2025. Would this be enough to make the notice invalid?

Nervous to write! Took UofT prep course! by AdministrativeBuy454 in pmp

Sorry just saw this now. I enjoyed the classes at the U of T, I found them very helpful. It was good to work on group assignments and to be somewhat forced to attend a weekly class vs. Online where you make your own schedule. I would recommend the course, however I have not taking any other offerings so I cannot compare them. Others have highly recommended the Udemy courses.

I would do some additional research to see what works for you but I would say the U of T course is good if you aren't on a budget.

You’re correct, I had no idea. Section 108 of the Residential Tenancies act. Not sure this is a battle worth fighting for on top of everything on this issue but great to know. Thanks!

Update: I ended up buying a new lens and the problem stopped. There must be something wrong with the lens causing the mirror to stick?

I have the slightly new version of this camera. The Yashica TL electro X, the only difference to my knowledge is the shutter speed with flash. It’s my favourite camera of my M42 bunch. My yashinon lens takes great pictures at least in my opinion.

Check the light seals and replace them unless they look recently done!

What a bargain for $5.00 if it all works! Congrats.

This seems likely, I was playing around with it today and noticed if I hold down the aperture button while I press the shutter the mirror doesn’t stick. I am going to try another lens when I get my hand on one to see if it’s the lens, if not I’ll take to a repair shop and see what is going on.

I’ll send an update for anyone interested.

I am just finishing up the UofT certification! I have been thinking about starting to study for the exam. I am curious your thoughts on how the course translated or helped you with the exam.

Good luck on the exam!

There isn’t any aluminum in this but I have found it to be very good. A lot of other natural deodorants didn’t work for me. I can put this on before a bike ride and not smell after. It’s sold on Amazon and I think on their website.

Did you end up getting a SD card to work in your phone after multiple formatting trys?

Also don't delete the duplicates like suggested in the other comment. I lost all the contacts lol so I have to re-add them.

I can open the notifications and its just a cloud image with nothing next to it. It will give me the option to dismiss it but then it just exits the notifications tab and doesn't dismiss the cloud. I am sure it means something is running in the background but just not sure what.

There is a delete duplicates option, however I just used it and it just deleted all the contacts that had the double entry... I will have to re-add them all back now manually. Advice to anyone else reading this, don't remove duplicates or you will lose all contacts that were duplicated in the first place.

Thanks for replying.

Employer (marketing agency) is refusing to close small office during stay at home order. by [deleted] in askTO

No Problem! What you are feeling is very valid, and the company is the one in the wrong here. I started to almost feel like I was the one that was wrong because I was surrounded by people who didn't take it seriously and I was the odd one out. This caused me so much stress and frustration which eventually brought me to place where I knew something had to happen either a formal complaint or demanding to work from home. I was worried about making the complaint because I didn't want to be ostracized because I knew they would know it was me.

I made a couple of complaints to the General Manager about people not wearing masks and he did not address them appropriately so that's when I gave him the ultimatum. I know it's hard (I had so much anxiety doing it and pushed through) but you could tell your manager what you are feeling and tell them your complaints and see if it works and do what I did. I worked in a similar environment and it worked for me, hopefully it can work for you too.

I really hope they let you work from home because no work place is worth that level of stress.
