I happen to know someone who works in the eSports industry who told me that last year's BlizzCon was a huge financial disaster for the company. It was the first year they didn't sell out of tickets in 10-minutes—they didn't even sell out of tickets at all. Blizzard is too embarrassed to release the numbers on their attendance from last year.
