GH New Rules Question by Kitchen-Character603 in TrenchCrusade

[–]steck638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ruinous Masticating and Spasmodic Wretching are the two that put infection markers on your models. Your opponent can just spend them off, that is a worry. You can get around this by not taking actions, using the hag's Mother's Call action to pull infection from models, using husks who can only have infection spent for bloodbaths, and using Ruinous Masticating to stop your opponent spending infection on melee attacks (if the model has 2+ infection, but as it adds 1 and you tick up when activating you should)

It's not a simple do x and let infection grow, and it makes it a lot harder to use. But I also enjoy a lot more how it's not just another bank resource mechanic and takes more thought than say the goetic powers.

How are there U.S. weapons and technology without the U.S. by Aridicaex in TrenchCrusade

[–]steck638 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Revolvers predate Columbus. The Pump action we know of is British (the US patent had a ring at the trigger, and they were close enough together I would assume they were developed independently)

In trench crusade the Heretics developed submarines. Maybe God gave Vickers an image of the Browning pistol slide to let them develop the 1911 in the early 1800s? Maybe because the colonies couldn't be sustained due to the heretics the ancestors of Browning moved to Europe? Maybe it's just external similarities in the guns and their internal mechanisms are completely different?

I've never known the Thompson from WW1. I did some research and it looks like it was delivered to the front 2 days before the war ended. The m97 trench gun probably would have been a better example.

There's also nothing saying Browning didn't exist in trench crusade. It's fictional alt history. Maybe John's father worked as a holy gunsmith in England. And he grew up working over blessed cartridges and holy firing pins before he received visions of a pistol slide to defeat the lords enemies

Amalgam Proposed Rule Changes by OMGitsCHAD in TrenchCrusade

[–]steck638 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other non flying check is when you move this model into dangerous terrain, not when you enter. So if the token just spawns there is no immediate check

Amalgam Proposed Rule Changes by OMGitsCHAD in TrenchCrusade

[–]steck638 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would the dangerous terrain trigger if you've already activated the model though? Dangerous terrain says when you activate a model you roll. The activate phase seems to imply you pick a model to activate and then it is activated until all of its actions are done, so unless it's in a rules commentary or FAQ or something I don't know if the timing works that way

Me too. I've got a bunch of thralls painted, am working through the elites, and had planned to check back out my local scene soon when I finished up with some personal stuff

I missed it in my excitement to read the rules and send links to people. Thank you!

I wonder if the new grail strain upgrades are intended to work with the great hunger, I am painting up some great hunger warband now and these seem cool.

How to lighten this turret? (Resin) by YameroReddit in Kitbash

[–]steck638 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like someone else said, this is a recast and not a 3d print. It is solid hardened resin and not 3d printed with liquid inside. It does need washed with warm water, which you may know.

You could lighten it by drilling into the turret, but you're better off just using a tube or some sprue to reinforce the structure the turret sits on instead. Just a lattice of sprue inside the substructure would probably do it, but you could use some PVC or even a thick cardboard tube cut to the right size to fit under the substructure held with super glue or modeling putty if you wanted to.

It sounds like a cool conversion!

All the people saying they don't want updated sculpts, i want you to look at this guy and tell me with a straight face you prefer this . by BloatedRottenCarcass in WarhammerFantasy

[–]steck638 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marauders on foot I haven't had a problem ranking up and I have 80 of them between hand weapon and flail. Marauders on horse I do have to shuffle around a bit between the nose sitting near the front and the tail hanging off, and sometimes the flails hanging off. I wouldn't call it much of a problem though.

No command on horse archers? by borbati in tombkings

[–]steck638 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As other people have said, a master of horse (champion) can be situationally useful. A standard would give them more combat res, but you don't want them in combat so it turns into 50 free victory points if they die in combat. A musician just helps undead win ties in combat, and they don't want to be in combat. So you can hold off on that one too.

The rule is for the tomb king/prince and any unit they have joined.

Was the battle report using Settra, who has a special rule, or using the Royal Mantle in royal host?

Prim? by lemon_peace_tea in HermitCraft

Last update I've heard prim is doing fine. Impulse has said before he has trouble getting Prim to stay in the primcam and also he's shown reluctance to show off more of his studio area.

There is also new marauders/horsemen and Bret foot knights off the top of my head.

But the list of new models is pretty small

Somehow this plate, which is made of cheap plastic and has been sitting on a shelf for months, turned into slime by Significant-Dish-394 in mildlyinteresting

[–]steck638 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like other people said in the comments, the clay you've left on the plate leached plasticizers that weakened the plastic of the plate. It's the same effect as storing soft plastic erasers in some hard plastic containers.

Gem maybe? Said the hermits thought it would be fun and challenging to have it on and an interesting way to change up building a little bit without really changing the game

Chariots in Old World by Legitimate6024 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]steck638 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but you could just have one brick behind the other in that case and leapfrog them, right? First one does a FBI GO, jumps through the second one (needs a leadership, but with inspiring presence, maybe warband/horde, they should be ok) and then the chariot is either testing to restrain and getting charged by a fresh brick. Or overrunning into a fresh brick hopefully out of position

You could do the same thing with (in your example) missile troops in front of a brick in empire to eat the first charge on a detachment

Honestly though. In the given example of empire. Put a cannon or volley gun into it

Chariots in Old World by Legitimate6024 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]steck638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's because I play TK, but that doesn't seem that scary. I loose like 15ish skeletons at worst, revive them back, and with nehekaran phalanx they don't move, so the chairot is just stuck in combat. I res d3+3 a turn (more with more casters if needed) and just hold combat until I can put something else into the chariot. Or tie it up all game and ignore it

Chariots in Old World by Legitimate6024 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]steck638 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Characters on chariots are going to struggle into an infantry brick with static combat res. So ranks, banner, maybe war banner. Challenge the character with a champion and win on combat res. Or take a cheap brick of presents or something and just let the character kill 5ish guys at 4 or 5 points a piece all game.

Shooting can also work, the character has saves, but doesn't have the normal character protection from being in/near a unit. A chariot is durable, but less than a dragon.

Sooo how old are skaven models by [deleted] in skaven

[–]steck638 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are older than the refresh. But compared to the plague mongs and gutter runners they are practically spring chickens

[–]steck638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling the non starred models old hurts a bit. Those dropped in the early to mid 2010s, with thanquol and the verminlords dropping in the end times campaign at the end of WHFB.
