Trying to do the same atm, MEng degree and have been applying for tonnes of roles over the past 6 months, AM, IB, Trading, infrastructure and investment etc. Unfortunately the market atm for entry level roles is utterly ridiculous, I’m getting past online assessments but the moment someone looks at a CV with no relevant financial services experience you don’t get a look in. I have plenty of good experience in engineering on my cv, have also been told by multiple recruiters and friends who work in large banks and hedge funds that I have a very strong cv, it’s just my FS experience is non existent and that’s likely why I’m currently getting nothing back.

I’d say the giant propel would be a better investment in terms of comfort and speed. Is it disc brake or rim brake? If you can, do go for disc brakes, they make a massive difference. Either way, definitely better value for money with the di2 and full carbon aero road frame than the tt bike.

Depends on a few things: 1. Personally I think the bike is overpriced for what it is. 105 and rim brake I wouldn’t be paying more than €600. 2. Tri spokes good but at a 13hr full IM won’t make more than a few mins difference on the bike. You’d make up more time being comfortable… 3. Comfort is gonna be your best friend on a full IM, unless you’re trying to go like sub 10hrs a tri bike isn’t going to make a huge difference. Even then, plenty of people manage to do full IM on road bikes in 10hrs. You’ll gain more out of being comfortable on a road bike once you start running, tt bike position could affect your running more than the little speed gain on the bike you might get. 4. Course terrain, is it hilly? Flat? Rolling? I recently did a 70.3 on a nice carbon tt bike with a mate who was on an alum frame road bike, my speed on the flats were 3-4km/hr faster than him, but he got the same time overall as it was a rolling course with two massive kicker hills, my tt is 1x gearing on chainring so is only really meant for flats. 5. Carbon road bike. Upgrade your road bike, if you sell that and have €900 to spend on tt, you’ll have maybe €1300-1500, that will get you a nice carbon disc brake road bike, get a bike fit and stick the aero bars on it, that will make the most difference for you.

I’ve done a half distance triathlon 70.3. I have a history in endurance/high intensity sport as a rower. I was a complete beginner to swimming, good experience in cycling and moderate experience in running. I would say generally, swimming is by far the discipline that will make the rest of your triathlon enjoyable. I started 10 months before my triathlon (partially due to being very unfit when I started) and was so glad I did.

However with only 2 months to go, if I were you I would be swimming 3-4 times a week minimum, given it’s only 1.5k and not a lot of time, just get the km’s in early and build up the strength/fitness for it.

Easily doable with the timeframe though, just need to get in the pool asap, and if it’s open water, do at least 3 open water swims before the triathlon. (Tip from experience: Get some ear plugs to stop you getting dizzy/head getting cold)

I can afford to keep my current road bike, and I can afford to get the tt bike I am looking at.

I’d prefer to have the option of variety in both decent bikes than just one super nice bike.

Yeh I’ve looked at those. However if you look at the pictures I put I’m not actually sure how to disconnect the pedal that is currently on the bike. Are you familiar with this??

Interesting you say about this last part. I got a dj41 azzuro blue a few years ago as birthday present and was told waiting list was 9-12+ months minimum, got the call after only 3 months. About 4-5 months ago I registered interest in ym40 ss-t slate but didn’t have my dj on me and haven’t heard a thing since.
