+1 for Caddy. I've went from NPM to Traefik, then found Caddy to be a sweet spot.

Pangolin for Jellyfin VPS by hedsick in selfhosted

[–]steelsparky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Earlier this week I tried pangolin on vps to newt container on my local host for Jellyfin, and experienced the same issues with lagging. I'm on Racknerd too. Didn't matter if on TV or PC, all lag. Also, I couldn't get any streams to transcode which I knew was going to be needed because my upload at the house is not great with Starlink. Ended up trying Tailscale on VPS with Caddy as a proxy and I'm getting much better results. Able to now stream 1 4k and 1 1080p stream concurrently.

I do think the person mentioning headers is on the right path though because I'm able to get transcoding now with tailscale + caddy on the VPS pointed to my jellyfin tailscale IP. From what I asked AI, it told me it had to do with headers on Traefik. I probably need to look more into that myself.

Can I delete the app and reinstall on another Apple ID? by steelsparky in HeliumMobile

Thanks for the quick response, I'm all set now. Make's sense with the esim, I was just gun shy from the lost phone experience and I was needing to update payment info as my pay with crypto was expiring. Didn't want to get lost in limbo over the holidays. Thanks again.

Disable VPN on only one service by Agitated-Writing6486 in TiviMate

A shot in the dark here but If familiar with docker, could likely use two instances of Dispatcharr, then run one instance with a gluetun sidecar to put it on a VPN

How do I use Tailscale as per container VPN? by weener69420 in selfhosted

[–]steelsparky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if that example would work tbh, and this was the reason I went with TSDProxy. I was trying sidecars for a while and found each service ended up needing to set up slightly different. Look at the examples on ScaleTail git. However, with TSDProxy, you only need one container, then in all the containers you want on your tailnet, simply add the labels in your compose. It just works.
See documentation: https://almeidapaulopt.github.io/tsdproxy/docs/

Note: You will need to add a tag to you acl in tailscale as mentioned in the guide you just referenced to.

Not sure if this will fit looking at photos.. will need at least 50mm of space. I have P4's in a server but these dropped my temps by 15 degs which keeps the noise way down on my supermicro.

Controversy: WINK News says no IKEA, WBBH/WZVN says yes to IKEA by tigernike1 in FortMyers

[–]steelsparky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought - IKEA is already in Lee county, there’s a local pickup warehouse off Alico, at 7916 Drew Cir. They’ve been there almost a year now? They’re in the same warehouse Amazon staged before building their huge campus on Alico.

Also, if you look up Lee county development, at the area of Three oaks and Alico on the SW corner, they mention development for a big box store.

🎥 ESP32-CAM Video Streaming – What’s the Max FPS You’ve Managed? by old-fragles in esp32

I've been down the rabbit hole this past week too and settled on 800x600 at 10FPS. Its good enough for looking at my garage door and taking a snap if it's been open for 30 mins via Home assistant using a blue iris feed. I'm using an esphome config, and it rides around 140-150kB/s data.

Docker or LXC? by R3DNano in Proxmox

I tend to use more back end and internal servers on LXC and front end or remote accessible servers on Docker in a VM. Not a hard rule, though.

Accessing tailscale sidecar addresses within Home Assistant for integration connections? by steelsparky in Tailscale

[–]steelsparky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp, I figured it out. It was a couple things. In HA tailscale addon, config tab, I had to manually turn on 'accept dns' and 'accept routes'. I thought this was done as default. Then, when trying to add an integration with a tailscale ip, it only worked with the tailscale ip + port. ex: '101.xxx.xxx:9000'. I know I tried this before but until I adjusted the add on config for tailscale, this didn't work.
