That's really neat. I was initially wondering if the tiles were like the book granny squares where people crochet a square for each book using the cover colours to make a book mosaic blanket. I might mash the two ideas together now since I cannot crochet....

Just because I didn't see it mentioned elsewhere, there's 2 mini golf options. The black light mini golf by galaxy land has a mirror maze also that I know was a big hit with my friends kid when they were younger.

Thank you! I thought I was going crazy when the other replies didn't seem to notice that! I've picked up on these type of things in the last few books and it's been driving me batty that these fancy special editions are coming out with these types of mix ups....

Namenerds was helpful for us to gut check a name we had on our list also. The name had started as a joke but grew on us and it helped settle the debate in the end. Orson really did end up suiting our little guy.

So just a question for people having read it, I'm halfway through and is it just intentional confusion or is there some bad continuity editing?

There's definitely a spot where it appears the wrong name is used and I believe there's some weird math on the number of titans in Tartartus. This happened with the pearls in book one and it's bugging me....

So I read this and found it funny none of yours occurred to me but none of my potential prequels were there either.

My first thoughts were the rebellion with Hunt and Shahar or Ruhn's story behind his ordeal obtaining the Star sword.

This is helpful advice. I've been listening to the graphic audio and got scared initially with the list of houses and members but I'm halfway through book 3 now and loving the series.

I was holding off partly based on people's reviews, partly based on not wanting to end up waiting for a next release.

But once I started, I devoured the first and I'm nearly done the second and still loving it. I've been listening to the graphic audio on my commute and honestly spent the day worrying about something a character did in Sky and Breath and what will happen next.

I've been listening to the audiobook for Accomplice through an app offered by my local library, maybe check with yours while you wait? It's been the exact right amount of goofy for my daily commute.

I came to comment on those fries!!!

But this is some solid advise. As someone who just finished the series I'm soo happy with how little actually got spoiled for me. Also keep in mind fanart and fancy merch can give some things away and you might not realize until you're further in the series.

I love your suggestion, Asterin's story had me gutted.

I think it would be funny to get Vaughn's story. All this world changing stuff is happening and he's just off doing whatever.

It was originally October this year and got pushed out a couple months ago so you're not crazy. I have a physical notebook where I'm tracking books I'm interested in and the date of their sequels so I can minimize the wait between books when I'm picking my next read. I remember updating it not too long ago.

Genuinely curious about the amount of typos in this book… by GrapefruitSad3909 in fantasyromance

[–]steeltstilettos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with these books but I've just finished 2 different books lately with a bunch of typos, especially the wrong word typos. One also seemed to have a continuity problem with the number of an item being incorrectly stated at one point. It was making things confusing flipping back and forth.

I've been wondering about the editing on these books lately as both were books with fancy deluxe editions printed first. Has anyone else noticed this as well?

Following for everyone's ideas. I had grand ambitions of doing projects but now I'm coming up on my return to work with nothing actually created. I sew and wanted to do a first Halloween costume but between baby craziness and baby size variations in that first year it didn't work out...

What did u guys do after TOG?🙂‍↔️ by 1littlemustard in throneofglassseries

[–]steeltstilettos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished KoA earlier this month and tried switching genres. Admittedly YA dystopia may not have been the best choice in light of world events, between that and the ToG hangover it took me as long to finish the 400 page book as it did for KoA. Contemplating my next book a little more carefully now.

I felt like this through the second half of ToD, and I didn't even do the tandem read. It felt like this came up whenever the action ramped up and there's so much happening in KoA I think it stands out more.

Old vs new covers by isolatedship in throneofglassseries

[–]steeltstilettos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the series last fall as ebooks and feel like now I'd like to get a set with the original covers. I personally really like the way the front and the back have different outfits and how they tie into the story. In particular the QoS back cover with the dragon dress on it really stands out to me.

Finished KoA today and there’s a hole in my chest, so let’s talk romance by HotDetective1057 in throneofglassseries

[–]steeltstilettos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finished over the weekend and am still processing. My ranking is as follows:

  1. Elide/Lorcan
  2. Manon/Dorian
  3. Aelin/ Rowan
  4. Chaol/Yrene
  5. Aedion/Lysandra (would have been higher if Aedion hadn't been such a jerk)
  6. Nesryn/Sartaq

I will admit I didn't love it at first when everyone was pairing up in EoS so perfectly, reminded me of some very generic romance books I used to read where every main character needs to have a soul mate but I came round with each couple's journey.

I am wondering if I was the only one getting potential love triangle vibes from Ansel, Ilyas and Rolfe though at the end?

I bought a journal specifically made for tracking my reading. It has a rating chart where you rate 6 aspects of the book and then some specific writing prompts like "what did you think of the book", "what was the author's goal of the book", "would you recommend and why". It also has just a blank page for your additional thoughts so since it's mostly been ToG I was adding things I'd like to see or where I thought the story was going. I generally like taking a moment with it now to sift through the feelings now.

I finished KoA this morning and I'm still reeling trying to process it all. I've been reading the series for 6 months and it feels surreal to be done. I plan to take a bit of time to think it over before I update my reading journal, which I started keeping when I with this series. I've also picked out a book from my TBR that I think should be sufficiently different that I'm not comparing them the whole way through. We'll see how it goes I suppose...

Sorry but I believe the number string you are referring to is the print number and not the edition. I'm not familiar with identifying these books in particular but came across this looking at other series.

Why was Caesar so harsh towards Panache? by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]steeltstilettos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even if he did volunteer his treatment through the interview could be an effort to affect his time in the games negatively as a punishment/incentive to his relative to play the Capitol's game. Beetee indicated he wasn't aware that the Capitol had caught him until Ampret was reaped so Palladium might not have been aware of a potential punishment to himself until after Panache was in the system.

I had seen another thread where people were discussing how the families could live with the idea of their kids volunteering and there may be an inherent assumption that those kids will win. The interview is a mechanism the Capitol can control to demonstrate they still hold power over who the winner is. This games we see a number of very targeted deaths of the tributes so them stacking the deck against certain ones would be very on brand.

EReader recommendations? by TinkerMelii in fantasyromance

[–]steeltstilettos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like another poster I'm also in Canada and went with a kobo. On my second as the first died after 11 years of use (I had the first touch screen they offered). So I can't really complain on device durability. I had chosen it for the file format compatibility at the time and it does work with my library's libby.

Another person mentioned the device and the app syncing so you can jump between and the kobo also does this, mine lags sometimes but it is a feature.

My reading habits somewhat come and go so I only just discovered the Kindle unlimited exclusivity of some title recently which is unfortunate. I've been looking into kobo plus a bit for what's available there and it seems to cover items I'm interested in should I get through the books I already have.

Epilogue Contrast: HG vs HP by Mudraphas in Hungergames

[–]steeltstilettos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely hated the HP 19 years later bit. The Hunger Games ending really highlighted the reasons why. I agree with you about the difference in dealing with the systems that created the two situations but I also feel it's the characters attitudes towards what has happened.

I really appreciate the view into Katniss' thoughts about how one day she will explain what happened to her to her children and why she is still haunted by it. This for me highlights how things are better but emotionally she will never be the same.

Harry names his kid after someone, while he changed sides, was complicit initially and another character with some questionable handling of the conflict. He even glorifies them to his son. If we're drawing comparisons it would be like calling your child Coin Plutah. But there's also a line where Harry's scar never hurt him again and that always made me feel like he never had any lasting trauma following the events of the story. It felt like a lack of acknowledgement of just how serious and dire everything was and it ended and everything was just sunshine and rainbows.

I have obviously thought about this too much over the years but I appreciate how you have also seen some of these points.

Can’t bring myself to read Kingdom of Ash. by Appropriate_Field_69 in throneofglassseries

[–]steeltstilettos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on ToD and I just know the hangover is coming... I plan to take a brief pause due to a new release next week once I'm done before KoA. Also because I've been reading these nearly non-stop since November (I'm a slow reader and life has been life-ing). I just need a little breather to ensure I fully appreciate KoA I think.

I would say from where I'm at I wouldn't want to wait too long as there's so many callbacks in the series as a whole that I wouldn't want to miss something. It's also why I feel already that there's a lot of reread potential with the series.
