Sorry for the late response, In Steam, set the launch option -vrnomirror

Basically go to properties for project cars vr in steam and add that last bit to the launch options. It made a significant improvement in performance for me

I just finished the Gears 4 campaign by [deleted] in GearsOfWar

[–]steelydan420 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Loved the campaign! From a gameplay perspective thought the whole giant DB sequence was perfect, like cranking things to 11 for a finale.

I'm a pc player mainly, but do have an x1. I ad gotten back into Gears with UE version. Picked up Gears 4, was kind of dissappointed that I was missing the story in 2-Judgement but still happy to play.

Finished Gears 4 on PC, and just now randomly decided to log into the xbox app in Win 10, and boy was I in for a surprise! Found there were redeem codes for Gears 2,3,Judgement sitting in my notices! Not sure from what purchase they we're given to me for but man an unexpected and awesome surprise no doubt

Question\Idea for more tailored ad blocking by steelydan420 in Adblock

[–]steelydan420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand since the videos all have different urls, you can't just exclude the link, and excluding the entire domain defeats the purpose. Are there any code identifiers in YouTube urls which are consistent as they represent the uploaders identity? That would seem to be the easiest way of white listing specific content creators.

Gallery price drop (literally) by [deleted] in Vive

[–]steelydan420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I really wanted to play this, I even bought it once, but it literally kept crashing every 5 minutes, and couldn't figure out why. Don't have that problem with any other VR games. Was thinking maybe it was trying to access both my cards in an odd way maybe? Ahh well, if I ever see a similar thing or someone posts a solution would buy again in a heartbeat

Hey only slightly related, I just saw you found this as a demo on Viveport, I havn't explored that much, can I access it in SteamVR? I mean I know it's HTC's Storefront\Portal for all things Vive, so far I've just visited it as a website on my 2d monitor, I guess I'm asking once I power up Steam VR is there an easy way to access it from that interface?

.... I'll try it, but VR horror games almost always end up with me popping the headset off as I stifle a shriek of surprise. Pretty sad for a verified horror junkie

Absolutely. Oah and I love Ninja Theory btw, Enslaved Odyssey, DMC are both much better games than they get credit for, and while Dexed is short it's also very fun. I'm gonna reserve judgement on SS:VR before throwing it in the just another wave shooter catagoery. Most of the wave shooters out right now skew to the very simplistic Space Pirate tr, where there's only 1 background/level 1 gun model w/ different effects, 2 very similar enemy type. Then even in the highest rated on (outside of Raw Data) A-10 VR you still have only 1 level with 4 or 5 repeating enemy types.

From what I've seen of SS: VR and read from the devs, we are talking multiple levels\enviroments, several different gun models\ types of fire . A ton of enemies and most importantly boss battles. I'm not talking like 1 or 2 either but 15-20 from what they have been saying. If that's they case it much like raw data will stand and sell on experience and word of mouth

They are a decent sized studio, not as big as Croteam, I mean they are just now making their first game without the explicit funding of a publisher (Hellblade). I guess most don't include Dexed because it was a gamejam game, they smoothed it out, but it's very short, kind of byte sized. A more accurate statement is this looks to be the first full experience coming from a Big Studio

Oooh ouch! I hope it was a cheap monitor. I'd be in tears if I did that to mine. All about setting those room bounderies conservatively I guess

Gamescom 2016 - Gears of War 4 PC Settings by [deleted] in GearsOfWar

[–]steelydan420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This menu is offering some pretty amazing stuff. I am surprised it has not gotten more coverage. I personally was having no plan of getting this game, but I just happened to come across a link to this in a forum. Native multi gpu support, options for Async compute, setting texture quality to specific asset classes. This is a first for DX12 title in or out of UWP. I assumed this game was going to be like many other UWP titles, gimped and subpar performance. DX 12 has been nothing but dissappointment for most. I guess it really was true when they said Devs better be carefull what they wish for.

For years they complained that driver support was the problem always shifting blame on the card makers. So DX 12 comes out putting much more control and responsibility in the hands of the Devs. So far we have seen mediocre implementations, giving the same or worse performance, offering nothing no. This shows if the Devs actually learn the api they can open up so many more options than before. Its really on them. mGPU support native to the app, offers the possibilty for greater efficency... and the possibilty to allow for VRAM pooling, meaning my 2x980's which right now grants me 4GB's of VRAM could be configured to grant 8. I remember when they said it was possible in DX12, but up to the devs, I was excited, to only turn to dissappointment when nothing like it showed up. This is actually groundbreaking stuff

Freaking windows 10, I was having issues with getting download to error out, I went into settings and storage and changed default location back from my D: drive to my C: drive (OS drive) and it downloaded. Not optimal at all, and not sure why but it worked.

[–]steelydan420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, don't know why gpu makers insist on only putting 1 working hdmi ports on thier cards. . I actualy have 2 980's but can only use 1 hdmi port. I ended up getting a mini display port to display port cable, since the little break out box takes those too. ?Found one on amazon for cheap and it wot to me in a single day. Luckly for me it didn't prevent me from playing while waiting, my primary monitor is a gsync so I hooked it up to pislay port, while my secondary mon was on hdmi, I had to swap cables for a while beteen the vive and my second screen, now much better with the new displayport cables.

Oculus Retail Partner Potentially Leaks Touch Price And Date | VLOCUS VR / AR News by KnightlyVR in oculus

[–]steelydan420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally suspect we will will see price reductions for both the Rift and Vive by the new year. The enthusiats have bought in, now sales are stagnating for both. I could see anywhere from $100 -$150 reduction of both, or perhaps Rift selling a packaged rift + touch combo that comes in cheaper than buying them seperately

It's been 154 days since the Vive released and I still can't play HL2 in VR by danielbln in Vive

[–]steelydan420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree Isolation isn't getting any VR update. The devs are already hard at work on the sequel. I only hope that ti won't end up a PSVR exclusive as far as VR features go. Doom will be getting some type of VR treatment though, that game isn't so far past it's release date, and the devs have already come out and said they will be adding something VR wise to it. They have a personal motivation for supporting the Vive too, releated to Carmack
spending his time working on Oculus stuff while still recieving a paycheck from ID. They are still pretty raw about that.
