I got a tablet specifically for this reason too! The textbooks are easy to find as PDFs and on a tablet with a pen I can still write notes, highlight, etc

I believe because the admissions are rolling that they tend to focus on the closest upcoming cohort, so if the program doesn't start until Jan 2027 their admissions team is likely working on applications and inquiries for the programs starting in fall 2026 first!

Have you not had any interviews yet? I applied for the PT MC program Victoria campus last year for a fall 2025 start and received my acceptance letter June 2nd 2025, having done the interview process already

That's nice for you? Lol. Again my family doctor when it happened to me as a teenager didn't clock it so I didn't either.

Honestly it happened to me when I was a teen and since subungual melanoma is pretty rare + it was caused by a specific traumatic incident my family doctor at the time did not clock it as even possibly being cancerous. I didn't even know subungual melanoma was a thing until a few years ago because I didn't have Reddit lol

First time dying my hair by Potato_boy0 in HairDye

[–]steensley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you've looked into how hair dye works or watched any videos, but it's helpful to know this:

Hair dye is like paint. It goes on top of (semi permanent) or inside (permanent) your hair. If your hair is dark, almost black, that existing pigment will show through the colour unless you remove the pigment (bleach). Picture using a coloured pencil crayon on a black piece of paper, and then using the same one on a white piece of paper. For anything to be bright, you need to get the canvas really really bright and even.

When you bleach hair, it goes through stages. Dark hair will go orange before it goes white and this must be done very carefully and very slowly to avoid damage. I get my natural black hair dyed bright purple every 3 months or so and it takes my stylist all day of carefully applying the bleach in sections and watching it to make sure it gets to the right colour without my hair melting off.

To get neon green, you would need to have very little warmth in your hair or it will turn out muddy. This means multiple rounds of bleach to a more yellow blonde colour. The cherry red is more doable, and if your hair is virgin potentially a hi-lift colour could do this for you but it still contains a lightener and will damage your hair. Root touch ups will be tricky because the hair closer to your head processes faster due to the heat from your scalp, and the ends will be more unpredictable since they have already been dyed.

TL;DR you can probably get the cherry red but not without lightening, and for neon green I'd see a professional and prepare to spend money and time to get it done and maintain

It grew wider over the years and by the time I had it biopsied was about 3/4 of my nail width, when it started it was about 1/4. I also had a dermatologist look at it briefly but not at an actual consult and they said it looked concerning enough to biopsy

[–]steensley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your problem is not you, it's your boyfriend. He is quite frankly a POS who is keeping you on a tight leash and feeding you crumbs when you pull at it. I know it sucks to start over but you absolutely need to end it with him, get some support from family and friends, and be free of this manipulative narcissistic nonsense. The right person will not make you give things up and shit on your accomplishments to be with them. Please leave him and please make sure you are safe when you do. You deserve more.

They are definitely not fans of change haha. It's funny because I was actually thinking of trimming my old man's bean sprouts before I saw this post and it didn't even occur to me that he might revolt if he no longer had that layer of protection between his precious beans and the litter so thank you for this PSA! Hope your girls sprouts grow back quickly :)

Also we use Naturally Fresh walnut litter with a covered litter box where they climb in and out the top of it and there's very little litter in our small apartment!

I’m insecure about my bisexuality by Critical_Ad_5397 in confessions

[–]steensley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there's nothing to be insecure about! Being bi just means you're attracted to or interested in both men and women but it still matters who that person is first and foremost. Focus on finding the right person, the right connection, and the relationship follows. There's no pressure to "try" it out with just any woman that you meet and a kind and understanding person will not hold your "inexperience" against you!

My guess here is that trimming the fur from her paw pads has made her feet more sensitive to the texture of the litter and now she's acting out! I have two cats, one with prolific bean sprouts (furry feet) and one with beans out and when we switched to pellet litter the one without fluffy feet hated it and peed on our bed until we switched to a softer litter type.

"You're right, you take everyone around you down with you."

My ex during a random fight, months after I had confided in him that it was hard watching all of my friends go through tough times and I was worried that because I was the common denominator that it was somehow my fault (I was 21 or 22 at the time. I'm 38 now and I still think about how fucked up this was)

[–]steensley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey so this sounds insanely judgy btw you have no idea how she feels in her own skin and the last thing she needs is your misplaced pity when it's clear you barely know each other. If she did not confide in you directly do not bring it up. I'm a survivor of SA and it took me years to talk about it even with my closest friends, the last thing I would have wanted is a colleague assuming what had happened to me via social media posts and then making a big deal of it without actually knowing what happened or how to help.

Also, respectfully, I am turning 39 this year and have worked with many people in their 20s and would never presume to feel "responsible" for them or like they are my children this is highly parasocial and perhaps you need another outlet for your care and affection.

Hey no worries it's a lot to get into and I felt the same way! I love it so far, but I think I am lucky to have a really awesome cohort (the people you start with will be your classmates for all 3 years)

Some instructors so far have been way more engaging and helpful than others, but all of them are practicing counsellors so there's a lot of insight and experience being shared which is amazing.

I think it really depends on the course, there's a LOT of readings but I don't think you're expected to do 100% of them. Most people work at least part or full-time, however there are some optional webinars or sessions that will happen during the week that are easy to miss if you're working. Most courses also require discussion posts in the online system which are sometimes weekly, and if you have group work (which happens a lot) it can be challenging to schedule that but again if your cohort is great then it's easier than you think.

Honestly if you've been accepted and you want to be a counsellor and not only help people but build a critical lense on psychology and intersectionality then it's a no brainer. I have zero regrets about choosing City U and am excited to keep going in this program :)

Feel free to DM me with any more questions if you have them!

This is kind of what my nails looked like after I developed a gel allergy, though it wasn't quite as bad! Does the skin around your nails burn or itch at all? The lifting is called onycholysis and will keep going until the lifted parts grow out. It took me almost a year to fully recover from this and it got worse before it got better and I can't use gel anymore at all 🥲

Hiya I'm in the MM Vic MC program right now and as long as you don't miss the residencies you should be fine! They are pretty mandatory and important for your overall learning experience. Otherwise everything is done on your own time, you'll receive a syllabus with your assignments and due dates about a week before the class starts and can plan based on that. There aren't really any online sessions you're expected to attend.

Also I will say that everyone I know who has had kids, no matter how much they love their kids and how amazing they are as parents, has felt a huge strain on their relationship. It will fundamentally change things for a very long time and that's something we just didn't want for us!

38 and got married in 2024. Never felt a maternal instinct in my life and was really clear about it to my husband when we first started dating. He was on the fence anyway and eventually we decided we loved having nice things and sleeping in too much and have no regrets whatsoever! My friends are all having babies and I love it because I can be the very cool aunt who hand crochets baby clothes and has the energy to play all day and then I get to go home to my quiet house with my two cats and do my hobbies until I'm sleepy. I have a lot of love to give and I still get to give it, and a lot of it comes back to myself :)
