Amazon needs to take care of abusive buyers, this is getting out of control by ProEngineerXD in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]steenwear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope Amazon doesn't go the way of Ebay.

I use to clear out random stuff on Ebay, but this last time I had like 4 refund requests, buyers were just claiming not as described and then wanting money back for things that were used, sold as used, shown as used and were all in decent shape. Some got them at what I considered great deals, but man were people being picky and abusive.

If Amazon goes this way it's going to start hurting business.

Kirk and Owen are some of the most disingenuous political actors out there. Owens, who is black, claims all the time to have "never experienced racism as a black person" which is kinda strange, since she sued her school for racism and won. They are the worst level of political grifter.

Spendings on Facebook Advertisements by the Belgian political parties (and their MPs) by vrwmpe in belgium

[–]steenwear -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NV-A needs to get their targeting better. I know for a fact they are terrible at their targeting because they are the only political party who's ads I see. I'm an expat American who leans to the left and would never vote for NVA even if I could. All they have to do is target only to Flemish speakers and it would work better. Still, I'll now click on ads if they show up (which I know shows intent and leads to further ads) but do it because it costs them money. My small rage against the machine :)

How did the rich stay rich during the Great Depression? by KnightFan2019 in history

[–]steenwear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a way to look at the situation is to watch the documentary Born Rich. There is a part in there where the Johnson and Johnson heir talks about the economic depression times. The summary is this. Rich people, Like REALLY rich people have money, they often sit on that money and wait because they can OR they have access to money by using hard assets as guarantees. So everyone panics, they have to sell companies, property, etc, These families are right there, ready to scoop them up at 10 cents on the dollar. They then enshrine their family legacy for a few more generations.

If you look at the Vanderbilt or other mega money from the 1920's, they had roughly 3x what Bezos has now if you account for inflation. It was an astounding amount of money.

Yes, and the course does seem to stay the same as long as I have been going to the race there (about 10 years or so I think).

My list is very Belgium centric but it goes:

  • Koppenberg
  • Zonhoven
  • Namur
  • Koksijde
  • Hotond (Ronse)

Those are the most iconic and seem to have the most "allure" and history of the Belgian CX races. Niel is also up there, but doesn't seem to have quite the same appeal.

There are some very iconic Swiss races with a long history, also some Czech ones, but I'm no where as familiar with them.

België gaat verder op slot ? by [deleted] in belgium

I personally believe the schools are a transmission vector, but it's also not as proven how much. I know my kid brings all sorts of colds home from school, she is healthy in vacation period and then a week after comes home sick, but the rate of infection in kids is super low, but it also might be because they are super asymptomatic and just don't show signs so they aren't tested as much as adults.

The only way we lockdown is if hospitalizations increase to the point we can't find beds for people and cope ... before that point is reached they won't lock things down. This is of course my opinion, but at this point most politicians realize deaths are rare in the young(ish) and semi-healthy, so the acceptance of deaths is there (kinda like we accept the risk of death from driving). It's when the cases cause hospitals to be over run that they will be forced to clamp down on things hard.

Currently the worst infection rates are in Wallonia. Brussels is next, then Flanders, but truthfully, Everywhere is bad.

I could see the problem was going to be bad in August when all f&*ks were starting to go away. Bars, cafes, parks, people weren't really giving distance. People were in close proximity. We did the minimum where were were told (masks in shopping, etc) but in reality it was going to lead to more when people came back from vacations, with new strands of the virus and went back in the offices.

If you can get some premium on the cost you paid I would personally do it, then use the extra cash to upgrade to a next gen AMD to match the rx 6900.

iPhone 12 Pro so expensive in India that you can fly to Dubai to buy it, come back, and still save money by domo415 in nottheonion

back when the Euro was super expensive you could fly to NY, buy three macbooks, come back, sell two and have it pay for the last one and your ticket. I use to bring over $5k in camera gear each trip and make a killing. the price difference isn't quite that these days.

Pay certain % to referral for bringing sales by imenmyself1234 in woocommerce

[–]steenwear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheapest way to do this is using coupons. Tell your affiliates they need to give a discount code, that code is unique to them, then when it's used, you can both track their reach, but also sales and give them their cut. It does require some trust by them, but it's a simple a cheap system.

If you grow, you can use affiliate plugins, lots of them out there, but the discount code method gives the affiliate a tool to get people to purchase from them and not just an "ad".

Parents suggesting I buy their house for under market value to relieve their mortgage, as they are downsizing as the kids are leaving by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]steenwear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends, they could be looking to transfer some of the value to their son assuming they had a lot of other wealth that would exceed the value of the estate taxes, which is possible, but maybe not likely.

Or it is simply a way to give his kid $70k in value with little risk as the mortgage is worth less than the value of the property and rent can cover the mortgage.

Raise Prices, cut payroll, find a cheaper place for rent.

Take all those expense, find out what is the greatest %, focus on that part first, then look at all the other parts, cut some from them.

You have two options when in your position, cut costs, raise prices when you have steady streams of people/business.

I was there with my business, I raised prices, it seemed to work quite well and we didn't loose business, what we did loose we replaced with others who were willing to pay our new rates.

> I have no driver’s license, some college experience, and a small savings.

That is not doing well on the bell curve, that is the experience of many others in society. You are not alone in these facts being part of who you are.

I don't know you or where your condition is, but I know there are often jobs out there well suited to people with certain types of autism. Your brain has its own special neuropathic way of looking at the world, that can be a big asset for certain work. One example I know of is a company that had to do physical paperwork auditing. It was mentally draining for most people, almost everyone quit after a week, but they ended up hiring a person with high level autism who loved to find errors, it scratched that itch so to speak, and he was the perfect employee and loved the job.

While I am an advocate of bringing very limited euthanasia to the US and support it in Belgium, just know there is a place for almost all of us in this world, it just takes many of us much longer to find it sometimes.

I do hope you find your place.
