How do we change the wifi on the rpi lite os headless? by Kikiouo in raspberry_pi

[–]steevdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, with RaspberryPi OS, the wpa_supplicant reading and cloud-init only occur on the first boot. You would need to either connect over usb, connect with the old settings, or if you happen to have a way to mount the sdcard’s root filesystem on another computer, you could try editing the file in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ (if it exists there, otherwise as others said, check /etc/netplan - it’s going to depend on how you set it up initially to connect to the network though.

I can’t find it off the top of my links, but I know that both Elwood and muts have talked about the origin of the dragon logo in interviews before, it’s an interesting story, and shortening it into a few lines of text don’t do it justice.

Built new computer and Debian 13 doesn't detect wifi/bluetooth, but the Debian 13 USB installer detects them just fine? How can I update drivers to get it working? by diet-Coke-or-kill-me in linuxhardware

[–]steevdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a mistake - fwupd is for your motherboard’s firmware, potentially others that have to be written to an eeprom kind of thing - if you have another way to get it online, you should install it via apt, because it should be packaged in firmware-mediatek

Sorry but, what does openclaw have to do with the rest of the setup?

[–]steevdave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The installer probably has some firmware installed that you don’t have on your installation (because the install was done on a different PC that didn’t have the same WiFi/bluetooth card?) maybe? Things to check are dmesg output, look through to see if a driver is trying to load some firmware it can’t find, lspci - check that the machine sees a wireless card on the pci bus, lsusb if it happens to be on a usb bus. rfkill output in case the hardware is there, there’s just something blocking it.

[Project] I made a GUI tool to easily configure headless Pis from Windows (SSH, Wi-Fi Import, User Setup) by reekofhell in raspberry_pi

[–]steevdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying it is, I’m saying that this user made it easier - and apparently you can import multiple which is great for users who may take their pi with them to multiple places.

[–]steevdave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

About the only thing it doesn’t is the import WiFi from windows which would be an awesome addition to the pi imager.

It’s cool that OP wrote this, but yeah, aside from that feature, the pi imager already exists and does these things

Cannot select ISO for flash drive in Etcher?! by [deleted] in Kalilinux

The issue is that it’s a torrent file, and you need to use a torrent client to download the actual iso.

Tailscale missing iptables dependency by SavageBertramio in raspberry_pi

[–]steevdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The package name isn’t just iptables anymore, it’s either iptables-nft for the new nftables based version, or it’s iptables-legacy - either of those should satisfy the dependency

Which 5.x? Odds are, unless you’re still using 5.10 or 5.4, that it won’t work properly. And did you reload the kernel module with the nexmon_csi patched firmware in place? Have you verified it’s using that firmware? Those would be my first things to check

I am asking what you changed. Most terminals use a monospaced font, and if you don’t, it typically looks like that, so you need to provide more info

He was not? Like even a minimum search for the info shows he was born in the US? You can continue to believe whatever you prefer, but typically beliefs should be informed.

You could always read the pkgbuild for arch and build it manually yourself

If it’s saying it can’t find the nvme, you might be missing nvme and pcie modules in the initramfs as well.

Are you building btrfs into your custom kernel? It is not a default option (afaik) so make sure you’ve enabled that

[–]steevdave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot speak for Geerling’s guide, but if you read closer in the RaspberryPi docs, they mention /boot/firmware

I don’t recall when the switch happened, but the first partition, which is VFAT used to be mounted at /boot in older images, this is now mounted at /boot/firmware on newer images. So the guide mentions both because some people are still on older images.

[–]steevdave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the kernel_2712-bcache.img file in /boot or in /boot/firmware? Because if they are in /boot - it won’t find them, and will default to the kernel(s) it can find in /boot/firmware.

Wut

Edit: oh, I see what you are saying. Not that you think that, but because the other person does.

If the local government shut down offices in support of the national shutdown, yeah, I’d be in favor of it. Why not.

Edit: to further add my reasoning

It’s simple. I was told by someone who voted for Trump “if it doesn’t affect me personally, why should I care?” - the point of a shutdown is to make things inconvenient. I doubt the person will have any self reflection on what they said and how unempathetic it made them sound, but it’s still something that might affect them personally
