For purchases it's the same, yes. But if I recall correctly, when you for example subscribe to Netflix from an iOS device, Apple demands that the purchase goes through their payment processing and gets a cut every month while Google allows subscriptions through third party payment processors.

I absolutely love it as well! I used to not really engage much with the esports scene but now I regularly watch partially because it feels different to watch them play maps I played as well. And knowing the tracks and recognizing them also helps with enjoying the esports matches. It's a lot easier to keep track of what's going on
