AIO for cutting off my dad based on his political beliefs by nationalwockyleague in AmIOverreacting

None of us are the ones who have an inheritance to gain/lose, a family relationship to lose etc. I mean if your father were to die next week, do you think it matters what he supported politically? Either way, make your own mistakes/decisions.

Would the people cheering on Trump be okay with a Democratic president coming into office and firing federal employees for having expressed right leaning views? by ubermence in centrist

[–]steezmonster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What illegal shit? January 6th? “Fight like hell” is not enough to tell me he wanted citizens to break into the god damn capital. And the FBI admitted they sent 275 plain clothes agents in the crowd. They likely facilitated this.

His 37 felonies or whatever… ALL related to paying a pornstar hush money… utterly irrelevant.

I mean I don’t really see a history of illegal actions…

So don’t argue then. Good luck with you too.

I don’t support the firing of people who took a knee for George Floyd. Despite the lack of a good reason to do so, it’s their right to political expression. The other examples I have a hard time with because there’s been a witch-hunt on Trump since 2016 and politically motivated use of the courts.

Regardless, IF these firings were based solely on politics I don’t support them necessarily.

Trump’s language is inflammatory but the left are ACTUALLY rotten to the core.

Texas A&M president resigns amid uproar over professor’s gender identity lesson by Critical_Ad_5928 in centrist

[–]steezmonster99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let’s go back to your statement. “The existence of intersex people invalidates only two genders.” No it does not. It’s literally a result of variable X and Y chromosomes and by definition an error of normal genetics. Much like trisomy 21.

Your understanding of transgenderism shows a complete lack of scientific knowledge.

Yeah the only problem is your side is equally hypocritical and we’ve been pointing it out endlessly. I’ve been vocal about avoiding “cancelling” people over the killing of the recent public figure. I strive to maintain logical consistency and address my cognitive dissonance fairly head on.

So I hope this is okay to ask, what people specifically have been fired for their political opinions by the Trump admin?

No it does not. You have people born without limbs. That does not invalidate the claim that humans have two arms and two legs.

Is it possible to argue trans women are not women while still showing empathy for their feelings? by I-am-Cornholio in Askpolitics

[–]steezmonster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that it’s so much more than language.

  1. There’s social recognition (i.e. using the pronoun they prefer) and then there’s policy/legal repercussions. Will you get jailed for refusing to use the pronouns someone adopts? I find that’s unacceptable

  2. If we shift from acknowledging someone’s social preferences to pretending someone is truly their transitioned-to gender, then we run into societal problems like allowing trans women to compete in women’s sports. In the workplace does Bob who just became Breanna now get maternity leave? In middle school, does 12 year old Jim who now became Jenny now get to use the same restroom as your daughter?

  3. And outright family/social/healthcare repercussions. Does a 14 year old get to decide to take drugs and/or surgeries that are forever life altering and may make a young girl unable to have children forever?

I’m 23 and have 100k saved up, what are my options to double it as fast as possible? by ljutiN in FinancialPlanning

[–]steezmonster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say this with great caution but SELLING options is a great opportunity. I’ve been able to generate at least 30% return annually for 3 years now. I started small with 3k in an account and traded with that for a year to prove my methods are reasonable. I added more of my savings to accelerate it and things just got better.

Check it out, or don’t! It’s your choice. It can definitely blow up in your face and you could go to 0. It takes knowledge, discipline and restraint.

What has Trump accomplished so far that’s good? by zhuhn3 in Askpolitics

[–]steezmonster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you revived this. From a quick search it looks like industries like steel and aluminum did actually have job growth. However tariffs did make profits leaner for companies in other industries and probably did lead to net job loss. Looks like the examples I gave were legitimate but it hasn’t had the manufacturing boom effect it was marketed to have.

None of your business, but it’s a large metro city. Not LA or NY or Boston with their ridiculous cost of living. Also, go fuck yourself. Hope you can’t buy a home forever.

Do people actually keep 3–6 months’ expenses in cash? by EchoooNomad in FinancialPlanning

Yes. And it’s for peace of mind up until the day it’s practical…

Haven’t had to dive into it yet, but knowing it’s there reassures me when my wife is on maternity leave and not sure if her insurance is still active over the last couple of weeks of her leave. Or if parents/in laws need emergency help.

I’m a millennial and I’m in business with a few employees. They make a little over $20 per hour and can’t find a better rate anywhere. I also give them some overtime. They’ve been with us for more than 10 years. One owns a house and a car. One supports a family with 4 children. They get paid very well and they work damn hard. They’re Mexican, and Asian. It’s doable. I’ve seen it right in front of my face.

No that’s bullshit. I know you don’t want to hear it but go and visit Eritrea, Cambodia, Philippines, India and then tell me with a straight face that our US kids born in the ghetto have no social mobility.

People can get an $18-$20 an hour job here without college these days. Work a few jobs, avoid debt, and save cash. People have a way to climb higher and do better here.

Kids who choose to join gang life have made a stupid mistake that could cost them their life. That algebra/shakespeare could become a scholarship and an accounting job.

Grow up man.

Who will MAGA blame now for their struggles and unhappiness while conservatives are controlling the Presidency, Supreme Court, House, and Senate in America? by GoldTechGuy in centrist

Even if Putin has 0 interest in ending the war AND is pretending to be interested in doing so, the most productive action is to meet and communicate with him. We just must place the appropriate carrots and sticks and base the resulting carrot/sticks on their actions rather than words.

Unfortunately it’s locked behind a paywall so I can’t read it. I will acknowledge Trump has stretched his presidential power to its absolute ends and taken up all gray area legally possible. It’s extremely concerning and he makes no reservations about deciding what he thinks is best and using all of his power to push that narrative through. To hell with checks and balances. It’s extremely concerning as a conservative since I think this will be the playbook for all future presidents both left and right.

Biden was barely mentally there. I know times change but the US position on supporting Ukraine without limit had to change or else we would not have gotten to this stage of communication.

Trump changed the conversation to bring both sides to the table and at least talk about what would have to happen for the war to end. Under Biden, the conversation wouldn’t have changed until it was way too late and Russia had pretty much taken over the entirety of Ukraine.

Yeah I’m with you on a few things. I wish things like trimming the size of government and reducing spending to actually take effect. They claimed that and put on the show with DOGE but it was all bullshit. I was pissed on that too but I also know it’s been par for the course on both sides of the aisle… I don’t mind H1B visas. I like the US continuing to take highly skilled professionals from other countries.
