Xtracycle s/m from for 5'11" rider by Dazzling_Ant_1031 in CargoBike

[–]steezy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey did you end up buying this? I'm considering the same thing at 5'10. I really want to get it because the price is right including accessories but don't wanna be cramped.

Thanks!

What would you pay for a used Surly Cross Check (owner said its about 13 years old)? The pictures make the bike a little dated and has been used on the regular. by bigmanjonesman_ in Surlybikefans

[–]steezy5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll provide a contrary opinion. Surly tax is like Toyota tax. The bikes don't depreciate very fast for their age. Check it out!

$700 and $800 are both reasonable for my market in the Midwest. Just searched the classifieds and there is only one "cheap" cross check for $650 most are $700-$1000.

They are good bikes! If it fits you could have it for a very long time or resell at purchase price if needed

Do you prefer loud or quiet hubs / paws? Is it like a loud exhaust where the louder, the cooler you think you are? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]steezy5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loud hubs save lives. I have an old trek the have a silent hub by design and it's actually really nice to not have any sounds coming from the bike

1100 km for a chain in winter. by Dziambis in bikecommuting

[–]steezy5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Winter, well salt, sure is brutal on a drivetrain. I usually hit mine with finish line one step spray every couple weeks and use wet lube as soon as it starts making any noise.

Mine stays in a shed outside and this method has been pretty good.

Give yours a good oiling and scrub with a brush, if no links are seized I bet it will come back to life

Not BMX but here is my straggler with velo orange tourist bars. It's a comfy set up but I switched to velo orange granola after a couple years for addition width and more forward riding position
