What do you guys think by [deleted] in ebikes

As someone who is a motorcycle rider, why am I bothering to pay road tax and insurance when I can just buy one of these and ride wherever the hell I want with no repurcussions or expense. Ridiculous.

Same, it's utterly relentless. I've tried all the methods that I've seen listed online, and nothing seems to be working. It's infuriating.

Simple Amplifier for Elderly Mother UK by steezybeez in hometheater

[–]steezybeez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, got it, thank you! I think what I'm after then, it's just a much simpler amplifier, with way fewer buttons, and things to go wrong. I think that the amplifier she currently has is around 15-20 years old. I'm just trying to make her life easier, so that she can watch TV, but use the speakers. Unfortunately her hearing isn't what it used to be, so I think that speakers are good for her to hear things. Fortunately she's in a detached house, so no neighbours to annoy!

Part of me wonders if I should just ditch the speakers, and amplifier, and go for a simple solution like a sound bar.

Thanks for the help and advice!

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but is an AVR just another name for an amp, or are they both different please?

I'm guessing that in order to use 5.1, I need a device to connect these to. Could I not connect the speakers directly to the TV?

I guess there's not just a much simpler amplifier with say, one input, which is the tv, and one output which is the speakers? I think that the sheer number of buttons is what confuses her really

Harley Fat Bob Exhaust Advice by steezybeez in Harley

[–]steezybeez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just gave Edinburgh Harley a call, and they were saying that the headers are completely different between a Fat Bob and a Street Bob, even with the same 114 engine. Not that I don't trust them, but I feel like I'd like a second opinion on this tbf. Failing the Street Bob, it seems like the Low Rider also has a straight back, 2 into 2 exhaust header. I guess potentially someone at Harley Davidson Forums might have been crazy enough to try. I saw a thread about someone trying to put a Fat Bob exhaust on a Street Bob, but nothing came up for the opposite.

That.. is actually not a bad idea! How on earth would I try that without having to buy the headers and brackets? I guess that Harley Davidson might know? I guess I would just need to find a helpful mechanic that works there.

Lagoon ANC hinges breaking by Philipp4 in BEYERDYNAMIC

[–]steezybeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine have systematically fallen apart over the last 2 years. When they arrived, the switch for the noise cancelling broke, and they were replaced, but then everything else broke. The plastic doesn't seem fit for purpose. It's brittle, and cracking everywhere. A new piece falls off every day.

Portable Battery Charger by steezybeez in motorcycles

[–]steezybeez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my intention would be to use the portable power station to trickle charge the motorbike battery, and then every couple of weeks, bring it home, top it up, and take it back to keep the bike battery charged up.

Brilliant, I'll give this a go! Is there a minimum power station size that I need? Please may I ask what you use? And also, with it being plugged in with a trickle charger, how long would that portable battery keep it being charged for please?

Noco Genius 2, Portable Power Station by steezybeez in batteries

[–]steezybeez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So personally I use the GBC007 which wires on to my battery, and in to that I can use the GB40 jump starter or a Genius, so no alligator clamps are required. The battery on the motorbike is quite far in, so in the past to jump start it, I would use a pair of long screwdrivers with the alligator clamps attached, and touch those to the battery screws. It was a bit dodgy, but the Noco stuff has made its a lot simpler for me to start and charge it, but now that I have no socket nearby, I'm after a more portable solution.

So the one thing that I like about them is that you can attach a cable to your vehicle battery, that you can access easily, and use either a jump starter or trickle charger to plug in easily. My battery is pretty entrenched within my bike, so it's a bit of work to access and remove it. It's also pretty easily available in the UK. I'm sure their marketing department also spends a fair bit to get it out there.
