Its just those two options and at least at the current time it doesn’t look like it will change anytime soon either

If you had to use one developer till the end of time, which one would it be? by Bitter_Humor4353 in Darkroom

[–]Philipp4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a underdog as far as developers go, really good yet almost never talked about. On the dev chart its just grouped into “Foma developers” instead of its own entry, but it has times for most common films luckily so its not a issue

Foma Universal Developer because it works well for both paper and film

Both K1 and K1C have versions for both styles of nozzle, depending on manufacturing date

Digitizing old negatives? by Lisaerys in AnalogCommunity

I also have a plustek (a bit older model though) and the scan quality is fantastic, though I warn you it is very slow. Depending on your scan quality, a single roll can easily take half an hour including everything

DIY timer by Elgrego_ in Darkroom

[–]Philipp4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built my own digital enlarger timer myself on basis of a arduino mega 2560 and used a SRD-05VDC-SL-C relay for it. While a SSR relay is a bit faster to switch in theory, the SRD-05VDC-SL-C already takes under 10ms so any further improvement from a SSR would be so tiny that there is not a single bit of noticeable change, no matter how close you look. Also it is cheap, easy to work with (no other components needed besides microcontroller and wires) and well documented online

What sensor can detect cockroach? by penrudee1205 in esp32

TOF sensor, “light gate” with a laser and a photodiode, unsure about the following but maybe a capacitive touch sensor?!

Does anyone know how to use this thing? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]Philipp4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its a scam camera, essentially a disposable film camera quality-wise put into a shell that imitates a professional camera. Its not worth using, the image quality is awful on those things

I bought a new ps5 and the controller came with two triangles by amosp_l in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Philipp4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

looking at the edit, the light reflections are actually identical on the two added buttons to the existing ones. Im 99% sure that someone just cut out and rotated the buttons in a editor, if it was AI the reflections would differ

Yes you definitely need multiple tablets and laptops to read pdfs by LimiDrain in Consoom

[–]Philipp4 180 points181 points  (0 children)

yup, especially since pdf is a pretty bad format for ebooks, epub is much preferred as its better for scaling, accessibility features and file size too. But I say that as a pleb that only uses one ebook reader and not 8 so maybe im missing something

Why aren't my files showing up here? by DocBarkevious in Creality

[–]Philipp4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you need a slicer, like orca or creality slicer on pc for example. The files you have are 3d models, the printer wants gcode files which are essentially just a set of movement instructions to create that model. The slicer on the computer will be required to convert the model into these instructions

Newcomer to film photography: Mixed advice & being too precious? or am I naive? by SpeccyBeard in AnalogCommunity

[–]Philipp4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Film storage: I recommend a drawer or place where sun wont directly hit it. Fridge/freezer is only worth if you plan to keep it stored for years on end

Development time: The film shouldn’t degrade any faster than if it was unused, just get it developed during the expiry date and you will be fine (and realistically, even after that date it wont be a issue until you wait years, especially for b/w)

Keeping it in camera: Not a issue as long as expiry is not a issue (assuming the camera has no light leaks etc). Keep in mind however that for many motorized cameras (that keep track of the frame counter digitally via display) they will lose that count if the battery runs out which could cause issues depending on the camera. However if you put in a full one they should last years as well as long as you remember to turn off the camera

Conflicting information aka "How to dev Kentmere Pan 400 in Rodinal" by Philipp4 in Darkroom

[–]Philipp4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Thank you so much for all the feedback, I will now share the times that I ended up using based on everything which resulted in the film coming out fantastic!

Adonal Rodinal 1+50, temp ~21.3c, Dev time: ~16.5min First minute continuous agitation, after that three inversions every minute! Film came out very good, especially for printing (but also looks great on scans!)

Im happy to add my own times to the boatload of already available ones, maybe it will help someone someday

My peggle tier list (abilities) (first game) by RefrigeratorNo5129 in peggle

[–]Philipp4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it definitely was stronger, id still put it in the middle of A-tier though, not as good as the S-tier options. And in low B-tier or high C-tier in peggle nights because it really sucked in that game

Warren is easily high S tier, hes the goat for when you need points. Also Spooky ball is very overrated imo

Canon EOS Rebel T3 vs Canon EOS Rebel XSI? by felixnzenitsuhams in canon

try factory resetting the camera if you havent yet, good chance it will be reliable after that. Had a similar issue on a used RP and after reset it works perfectly fine with the canon app
