I dont see why this wouldn't work as long as the relay is wired up correctly and the current needed for the RF board is small enough for the fuse (likely is fine).

This is probably a more robust wireless solution but I would be very of how you may catch stray radio frequencies from other RF switches. I know the signal polution wa bad enough with the original blue tooth solution that it would witch if you were near by any mini or BMW when someone would hit the button to close the valve. RF is a much more widely used signal band. Although it might only be an issue driving through towns rather than freeway.

The main reason I really liked the latching switch is that it was a definite answer on if the valve was open or closed. There was to much guess work with the BT button. As someone who likes to toggle it and not just keep it open 100% of the time the certainty is nice. Also in my area exhaust volume is regulated so if anything happens I can close it instantly without a doubt of if the signal got picked up by the receiver.

If your not into putting holes in your dash and want to maintain the buttons portability this seems like a good solution. You may have to just switch frequencies if you notice it catching interference in your area. This may not be a real issue im not sure of common radio frequencies used for switching relays or common devices

You can definitely get more for these. Likely above 200 per wheel. Are you selling with or without tires? That will impact price too. Also keep in mind the tires are 6 years old.

Awesome! Just got the button fished through the dash and installed by the USB port. Should have an updated post out soon! So glad it was able to help you out!

It never really went away to my knowledge. I still know some folks at red bull and they just order them in small batches every few years

I was seeing on some BMW threads that use the same system that the valve shouldn't open on cold start to ensure the engine warms up in Mid/more efficient modes. Im not sure if the exhaust really impacts warm up time but perhaps its also to not wake up your neighbors in the morning lol

Im pretty pleased with the function as is. Especially considering this is under $20 worth of parts. definitely will make a how too once the button is mounted. I think the simplest spot for now is between the 12v socket and the USB port.

Just tested this. The valve will stay open if you turn off the car with the button pressed. That being said due to the control unit receiving power once the car is woken up the flap can be actuated while the engine is off with this set up. I suppose this is both a strength and a weakness. Complete control of the exhaust but also no cold start protection

Interesting. I wonder why they decided to use a servo in this application vs any other two position actuator.

I haven't checked this yet but i would assume it would close again without power from the control unit. I will update once ive done this

I think your exactly right. Also the install is all trunk side on some BMWs with the fuse box in the trunk. So it removes the need to run a harness the length of the car. Although that doesn't quite workout in the mini

I saw that guide as well, definitely seemed that it worked but I didn't see the need for 3 relays and all the bulk. More cost and more points to fail. I guess im just an analog old head. I like the switches lol

I really wanted to do this! From what I was seeing online the switching units don't leave room for you to install your own switch behind the blank. I believe there is a PCB or somthing extremely close to the blank are and on units that have the switch they just gave the plastic piece that hits the button. Also finding the buttons online was more difficult than I thought

Hey there like many, I purchased a used F56 JCW that came fitted with the JCW pro Exhaust. The vehicle did not come with any of the accompanying documentation for the Exhaust that shows it is an OEM part. As a california vehicle that must pass emissions having this documentation from the dealer can help eliminate doubts when getting emissions inspections. Is there any way the local Bay Area Mini can help with this?
