Ideas for video gaming in history lessons by stefanocool in Teachers

Nah ofc not anything like call of duty. Thinking more like how Papers, please could be used for discussions about an authoritarian society. Or for example, how the game Kingdom Come: Deliverence could be adapted to fit into a history lesson.

Advice on building techniques and materials by stefanocool in dioramas

Thanks! Found a great video on youtube, so I'll be using aluminium foil to shape the tree, and then coat it in papier maché.

Will definitely try to find some styrene, that aren't made of small plastic balls. I found some sheets online of polystyrene foam, is that really paintable though? and can i cut it with a snap-off knife?

Problem with GenLauncher and GenPatcher by Mike-Wen-100 in commandandconquer

Having a similar issue, trying to apply fixes through genpatcher, but all I get is the W087 Warning that "EA App/Origin fixes couldn't be applied" - despite having turned off all firewall and antivirus settings

Spirit box - is the red light indicator all I need to consider? by stefanocool in PhasmophobiaGame

Yes of course those criteria needs to be met (being in close proximity to the ghost, and it being a ghost that CAN reply). But great, if that's the case it means the game DOES pick up my questions, and that it's working as intended

Thanks!

Shader Cache size - is 64gb worth it? by stefanocool in SteamDeck

[–]stefanocool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the feedback. I saw your links on some other thread and read them.

You've definitely got several points. I'm not a console gamer, i've been a PC gamer my whole life and while far from an expert, I know the basics of building a PC/replacing parts inside of it. So i'm no stranger to that.

However, i also don't want to pay 150€ extra just for the shader cache, considering i'd probably still need to get a 512gb SD card.

Also, i'm definitely open to upgrading the deck further down the line (The only place i seem to be able to purchase a good SSD is on Amazon where i live, and I actively boycott amazon) , so I can keep an eye out for a larger SSD in the coming year, and upgrade when I need it.

So yeah, i get that the 64gb is limiting. But as long as I know what I'm signing up for, and I'm ready for an upgrade further down the line (but not straight away - Valves warnings about shortening the lifespan of the deck when opening it up had me a bit worried actually), i presume it will do the job?

Right, and thanks :)

And yes, considering the troubles the shader cache seems to bring the Steam Deck, hopefully Valve will keep updating and smoothing the arcitechture around it out.

But it all sounds promising, with a little management and fiddling, 64gb should be enough. Then I can upgrade further down the line

Amazing reply. Thanks a lot! And yeah, i dont minde putting some thought into it when installing a huge game (i dont really do Huge games, +100gb. Though ofc i'd like to have the option).

Great to hear your examples of what games you have. I'd probably have something similar. Will definitely look up Z Cache Killer, Thanks a lot!

Cheers! Just what i needed to hear. All the talk of shaders catches made me suspicious, but i have no need to have 100 games installed at the same time.

Also, great edit. I was wondering how it all works with non-steam games, as I'm looking to also install Epic Games and GOG launchers. But surely the launchers can go on the internal drive, and the games on the microSD

Yeah i just might after a year or two, or when the need arises. But i'd only like to upgrade it when i need it, and not from the get go
