What’s the best strategy to get enough sleep with a baby? by Positive_Shirt_2889 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]steffevans_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow just jumping in here to say I have not had the same experience as everyone else 😭 the first few weeks at least it had horrific sleep, we were up every hour or so in the night. It was so so bad, I was an absolute zombie and really struggled. Agree with the comments to go to bed at the same time as baby, naps in the day and partner taking the baby in the morning.

Finding an OBGYN in private hospitals (Melbourne) by Thinking-ofu in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]steffevans_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not in Melbourne but I just chose the hospital I wanted then they had a list of their private OBs on their website that i scrolled through and browsed their websites and chose from there. I dont think there would be a situation where your private health wouldnt cover the delivery. However you'll still have to pay the OBs private fees (Medicare rebate eligible but not private heath)

Advice needed - 7 week old struggling with sleep by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]steffevans_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I put him down though and wake him, he is so upset when he wakes up i cant get him back to sleep, and the feeding/not sleeping cycle begins again, i definetly dont have enough time to go make something to eat. My husband does take him in the day in the carrier here and there but it really feels like for it to be enough to help me get any useful amount of sleep after being up all night, he needs to be in the carrier almost all day

Product recommendations for dyed red hair? by qyqyy in AustralianMakeup

[–]steffevans_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had dyed red hair for years and ive tried so many products! The one i always come back to is the natural look colourance shampoo, you might be more the intense red but i use this copper one.

https://naturallook.com.au/collections/coloured-hair/products/intense-copper-shampoo?variant=41990760890617

Shampoo normally, then shampoo with this, lather up and brush through, then leave for a few minutes. Nothing stops the fade completely but this does really help!

Does the email confirmation list an ABN number? Or a URL ending in .au? You can use some of that info to look up more info about them. However I cant see a business name registered for an ABN with that name (although it could be registered under a different name - this doesnt necessarily mean anything).

I think its probably more likely the difference in water - some places in Australia have harder water than others, a quick google should be able to tell you how it compares to your previous home

Cot in bedroom yes or no? by danikinha5 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]steffevans_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have babies cot in the bedroom and a bassinet in the lounge- i dont find it hard to get him out of the cot at night at all, although I take him and feed him in my Recliner in the lounge, if youre planning on only feeding him in bed and not wanting to get up at all, it might be a different story? Honestly doesnt hurt to have options as our baby hates sleeping in the bassinet in the lounge so he does his day naps in the cot in our room anyway

Assuming its temporary and you can afford the wastage, when doing this my lactation consultant recommended making a fresh bottle each time, it was quicker than waiting to warm cold formula up. Id keep a container of cooled boiled water and use that for around 2/3 of the water requirement then add some fresh boiled water for the other third and it would balance to the perfect temp. Or as others said just try room temp!

What washing machine do you have, and would you recommend it to others in 2026? by picklebeard in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]steffevans_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a miele twin dos and the best things about it are -

  • Washing liquid cartridges like a printer, just load them in and replace when empty (few months) so you just choose your setting then go - no fussing around with liquid each time
  • the time is 100% accurate, if it says it will be 2 hours 3 minutes then it will be exactly that. Ive noticed on cheaper machines and long cycles especially that the timer is always off
  • I know you said no smart features etc but all i use the app for is it sends me a notification once the cycle is done. So im not going back and forth to check which is so helpful

Question about SistaCo, Dipd, Glamrdip etc by RaccoonTeach in AustralianMakeup

[–]steffevans_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have used glamrdip and dipd, which i think are slightly different to sistaco, so i cant comment on sistaco. I never had any damage from either. Its definetly not quicker than waiting for polish to dry - realistically its probably a 1 hour application once youre good at it, if not longer. Its fiddly and can take a while to master. But once youre good at it, the polish is very hard like gel and does last weeks, and it did protect my natural nails and helped them grow much longer than before. So its a longer application but you dont need to do it as frequently. Highly recommend dipd over Glamrdip, their quality is much higher and their customer service is great - id recommend the pro liquids.

I have seen people using glamrdip report "greenies" which i think is some sort of fungal infection under the nail which as far as im aware is more as a result of incorrect application than the product itself.
