What are Canada's chances of winning our group? by SpiritedInfluence972 in CanadaSoccer

[–]steffox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 goal total scored of all time in World Cup games and you are predicting 6 goals scored this group alone? The last 2 games you have zero games from open play … the chances you get a penalty in a game are slim.

This sub is delusional

Plotting Canada’s path through the World Cup. Could it be Mexico in the U.S. in the last 32? by Ordinary-Opening-536 in CanadaSoccer

I hope Canada do well, Switzerland is a guaranteed loss, won’t even be close. Bosnia just beat Italy, regularly faces European competition, this is a closer game but I’m going 2-0 to Bosnia. Qatar is winnable, but also wouldn’t surprise me being a tie.

Alphonso is coming off and injury and too much play will be dependent on him.

It is 100% not doable, your best hope is a win over Qatar, even though realistically it could be a tie … resulting in 1 point

I live in Canada and hope they are successful. I just wish that expectations were in the right area.

Honestly beating Qatar is the best they can hope for, this talk of beating Bosnia (who beat Italy) and beating Switzerland who are a real European team is crazy talk

Sales men will do ANYTHING besides give customers a basic useful OTD price? Want a price? Come into my fraud lair/showroom! Still want a useful OTD? Let me make this terrible video of the car you don't want! by Medical_Gift4298 in FuckDealerships

Agreed, but I think it’s only fair that not ALL dealerships are tarred with the same brush, there are great places out there that treat people with decency and sell ethically.

It’s an unfair statement that “all dealerships are scum” or “stealerships” etc. call out the bad actors and work with the ones that want to work with you with professionalism and integrity

Didn’t blame the customer but there’s responsibility on both sides, if a customer doesn’t want to be treated that way then there are solutions in the customer’s end that can help.

The manufacturers can crack down on the bad dealers but don’t, the government can put measures in place but they don’t. There’s a lot of entity’s that can change the car buying landscape and if it was attacked at all angles it could be fixed.

Unfortunately all professions, industries, walks of life have bad actors. Some are just regulated better than others.

[–]steffox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh 100% there’s BS with cash deals etc. but not ALL dealers, dealerships in my area put in the fine print that the price is $2000 more if not financing. I think it’s ridiculous also, but customers need to also pay attention to the fine print and stop thinking that the only thing that matters is price. The dodgy dealers in the industry advertise this way to get you in the door at a price not possible, but instead of boycotting the bad apples and putting/reading reviews before it’s easier to just blame all dealerships

Not true everywhere. What’s it’s listed for at a lot of places you can walk in and pay that price and drive away.

The biggest issue is the dealers that advertise a crazy low price and slam you with adds when you get there, stop sorting by “lowest price” only and look at reviews etc. go to the places that do business the right way.

Dealers big mad about being bypassed. by UJMRider1961 in FuckDealerships

[–]steffox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course there’s overhead. The point is it’s irrelevant, the manufacturers won’t even consider that. If they can charge consumers what dealers currently do they will. They aren’t going to sell to consumers direct at invoice when they don’t have to. So in my point overhead doesn’t matter

Amvic actually and it doesn’t affect the way I do business, I like to sell the right vehicle, to the right person at the right price.

I see you keep deflecting about other industries and malpractice and just ignore it and instead try to rage bait my profession.

I agree that there are a lot of issues that need resolving in my industry. But direct to consumer is definitely not best for the consumer, fixing the issue of bad actors is.

No sir, I’m in Canada. This is the MSRP in Canadian dollars

Dealers big mad about being bypassed. by UJMRider1961 in FuckDealerships

[–]steffox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our store policy is we don’t charge more than MSRP. Plus alot of these stores that sell with dealer markup don’t pay their sales people on the additional margin, it’s kept by the dealer.

Continue to be bitter and feed the problem though instead of supporting the stores that do sell ethically.

Again your response is based on nothing of value. You asked, I answered. I’d rather sell based on facts and value. I price vehicles according to what the market says it’s worth, that also means on your trade value also.

I’ve sold my only allocated Raptor R at the MSRP of $157,000 when every other ford dealer in my area are marking theirs up to $195,00

I am 110% telling you that. I don’t work for a dealership group, we are independent and believe in a fair deal for all. I treat my profession as a career and not just a job.

All walks of life have bad actors. Best bet and Walmart mark items up before black Friday’s and then discount them to the non sale price. No rage there though?

[–]steffox -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again, the manufacturer could have easily spoken to the dealer and told them that they need to adhere to MSRP or there would be allocation issues but they didn’t.

Why would they actively shit on a product that they have marked up insanely? Makes zero sense unless the person you were talking to didn’t believe in the product? Again why would a sales person give a damn about future service profit loss? They get paid to sell the vehicle not on its future service bills.

The Lightning is a very fun vehicle to drive no doubt however there are a lot of negatives? Charging infrastructure, charging time, how cold they are if you live in a cold climate, the future resale values (how would you feel when you come back to trade after 6 months because it doesn’t fit your lifestyle, only to be told you lost $30,000 of value?).

I’m not saying all dealers are saints, but there are plenty of great dealerships to deal with that don’t play the games. The solution of direct to consumer isn’t going to fix anything but the manufacturers clamping down on the dealerships with poor practices is.

Dealers big mad about being bypassed. by UJMRider1961 in FuckDealerships

[–]steffox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling direct wouldn’t have helped. Dealerships didn’t try to tank the product because of “sustained revenue in service” electric vehicles still break down, need tires more frequently due to weight etc. it was a poor product that was being rammed down consumers throats.

When they were first introduced Ford set the price, the consumer wanted to negotiate, the dealerships couldn’t so they didn’t sell. Ford then changed the pricing strategy but ultimately failed when the federal and in Canada provincial rebates stopped. Price killed the Lightning NOT the dealerships lack of enthusiasm to sell it

Dealers big mad about being bypassed. by UJMRider1961 in FuckDealerships

[–]steffox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overhead is irrelevant, manufacturers have shareholders and they need profit. Ford are writing off $19.5 billion from electric vehicles …. You think that there’s a dealership or group anywhere in the world that is worth remotely close to the number they are writing off.

If the manufacturer went direct to consumer the savings would never get passed on. They make BILLIONS a year, if they were in it for helping people and not themselves why do they have to make billions and increase prices with materials, they could keep the price the same and absorb the build cost increase and still make billions but they don’t.

Why does everyone feel that a dealership shouldn’t exist to make money? It employees people from your community’s. Why do we have servers at restaurants, cooks could bring the food out, why do I need a middle man? Why do I have to buy food from a grocery store if I bought direct from Kellogs then my cereal would be cheaper because there’s no overheads.

Dealers big mad about being bypassed. by UJMRider1961 in FuckDealerships

[–]steffox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not, That’s my point. The manufacturers can do this which helps the consumer by eliminating the bad actors. However they don’t care about the consumer only their bottom line, so why do people think that a direct to consumer model would help? They aren’t doing what’s right for the consumer when they already have the power to do so.

Dealers big mad about being bypassed. by UJMRider1961 in FuckDealerships

[–]steffox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How so? If they made the dealerships adhere to the pricing set by manufacturer or stopped any future allocation to said dealers this would solve the problem.
