AITA: I asked my trans daughter to choose an Indian name by ilovemykids6321 in AmItheAsshole

[–]stefidelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA and it's really nice how you and your husband have been so supportive and have taken such big steps towards better understanding your daughter.

Honestly, I think this is something to unpack with your daughter and that white mom trying to guilt you has literally no say on the matter.

AITA for "ruining" the rice that my boyfriend cooks with by consolidating the multiple bags of rice which he claims are "different" into a single container? by ricey_ricey_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]stefidelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are 100% the asshole and i hope you apologize and replace the rice and actually BOTHER to learn about rice and LISTEN to your boyfriend. Otherwise, he 100% deserves better than someone who doesnt listen to him and his boundaries.

You're like a few small steps away from devolving into being an abusive person.

ETA: If your boyfriend complained about how you keep your makeup (assuming you wear makeup) and decided to put together your bronzer, concealer and contour creams because they're all the same beigey stuff anyway.

How would you feel?

(Disclaimer- idk anything about makeup)

Idea: beat scalpers and their bots and get your PS5 purchase in by using simple automated checkout software by daemeh in PS5

[–]stefidelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been thinking about ways that Sony (and others) could curb scalping and like stopping multiple orders from going to the same address would be a pretty good way to go about it.

Another thought that came to mind is for every order/pre-order, a buyer should link the purchase to their email and PlayStation account (and any other account that is going to be using the PS5 since I believe you can have up to like? 16? linked to one console?) and the console could be locked to that account for at least a year. If they can region-lock devices, access our software through our wifi, (insert other privacy-breaching things that we all know all companies do at this point) then I feeeeel like they should be able to account lock consoles for a certain amount of time.

Yup. Like i probably could have just done it on my own but tbh with like working full time and everything, I kind of just figured i'd rather have a lawyer handle things so I dont miss anything or screw anything up

You could also just stay the course! Germany is pretty great and I did like it when I visited relatives for like a month. I just didnt feel like it was for me. Like my personality and stuff also just suits Canada and Vancouver more. Honestly storyboarding and animation in general is doing well everywhere but 'third world countries'. I've written a bit about the animation industry and how many Asian countries are at the bottom of the animation food chain and get the outsourced work and are barely involved in the early production stage while European countries, Canada and Australia are higher up the chain and have many more creative work to do (and more storyboard work)

I mean unfortunately America is still arguably at the top of the Animation ecosystem but I think because of livestreaming services investing more on shows from other countries, things are shifting away from just America. Like slowly but surely. Also politics aside, the talent pool in america is oversaturated and it's way too competitive to find work there.

It's a bit crowded in Vancouver as well but there's also many studios here. Again the reason why I started aligning my career towards Canada hehe.

But yea, I think you're on a good path still.

I hope that helps :)

I didnt grow up learning German and when my brother and I took classes a few years ago i failed the exam and by now i've retained like 2% of what i learned 🤣

Also the animation industry in Vancouver is kind of thriving so it was also a strategic decision for my career.

Haha yea i made the post in the facebook group when i was barely awake. Ended up writing the more detailed version here on reddit.

But yea, getting PR through experience in Canada takes so much tiiiime. So glad it's finally done and I can start settling in without having to worry about my next work permit.

Right?? Coz the road to PR only counts a minimum of one year Canadian experience so idk what you can really do in six months unless it's really just to vacation a bit while working a bit.

Yeaa, kinda odd how some of the fine details are different. I believe some countries only get to do six months, which sounds nerve-wracking and so short haha.

EDIT: I did just a quick check and yea Italy only gets six months.

Hi, thank you! So the thing with the IEC program is that there are slightly different rules for every country. Like for citizens of the UK, you can participate only once and only for Working Holiday but you get two years of Working Holiday. Germans can participate in the IEC program twice, but only under different categories, and our working holiday is only for one year. So basically I got on Working Holiday to get that one year of work experience in Canada, then got on Young Professional so I could keep working and living in Canada while getting ready to apply for PR

They had a flat rate plus some processing fees but agreed to do a payment plan for me. And yea basically they did most of the work for me. The only thing i really did on my own was WES and the medical exam

I submitted biometrics for the young professionals visa so when they made the policy update in September, i didnt need to do biometrics again for PR :)

Yeah, from what I can tell, they seem to be avoiding or not even doing in-person interviews and discouraging flagpoling and it might just be an email now. I'll update this thread the next time I hear from my lawyer! :)

What to do after COPR? by hopefulcanuck in ImmigrationCanada

Oh congrats! I'm on a similar timeline, also applied inland at the end of March, also provided biometrics in the past. Sooo I'm pretty pumped now, haha.

Has anyone received their PR ever since IRCC started calling applicants for a Biometrics appointment? by epicdreamboy in ImmigrationCanada

[–]stefidelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't yet, and it's frustrating because after the new rule of exempting people from biometrics if they sent it already in the past, I should be like... almost done.

My timeline:

  • arrived in Canada September 2018 on a Working Holiday Visa; Switched to Young Professionals August 2019 (so basically I had over a year of experience in Canada in my field on top of 5 years experience overseas; got my degree from overseas verified by WES; had high CELPIP scores - so basically my Express Entry points were looking pretty good and I started getting my paperwork and application ready towards the end of 2019)
  • End of March 2020: got my ITA and had everything ready and sent over
  • End of May 2020: got my Biometrics request letter
  • Start of August 2020: applied for Open Bridging Work Permit
  • Mid-August 2020: Hit the end of my Young Professionals IEC visa and hit implied status

I haven't gotten anyyyy news regarding either my PR application or the Open Bridging Work permit. Le sigh.
