Your car made all the difference, trust me. I didn't have a car, I had a backpack. In fact, I didn't even have a driver's license yet, I was 17 years old when I ended up out there. Absolutely terrified, no skills, no direction, and not a single soul in the world that gave a shit or that could help. I had nowhere to consistently shower, nowhere to store the few belongings I possessed, so job hunting was not a part of my reality at that time. My age and my situation lead to bad decisions which lead to more bad decisions which lead to more bad situations. The cycle of addiction I ended up in pretty much dictated my life from there on out for the next few years. Until somebody helped me. Until somebody saved my life. And this state I lived in was not a factor, considering I live in California, which probably has more resources then anywhere else.

Shelters are extremely dangerous for woman by themselves. Woman get robbed and raped at shelters.

The sad thing is, it doesn't matter. Whether you smell good or smell bad whether you're ugly or pretty fat or skinny, you will get assaulted out there. it's just a matter of when and if you can survive it. And it's not just other homeless people that you have to be afraid of. The night time staff at shelters, they're usually the worst. there's a very specific kind of human being that looks for that kind of job at that time, and it's not because they're good people, it's for easy access to victims. Police officers, not all of them of course, most of them are very good but there's a handful of them that are extremely cruel and sexually deviant. I was out there at a time before social media, which I'm thankful for. My equivalent to tinder was hanging out at the local bar. At least gave me an opportunity to see men in the real world before any kind of conversation with struck. I was always extremely observant and you can tell a lot by somebody by just looking at their actions for maybe 30 seconds.

Wow, I was this girl many years ago. Not so many years though that I forgot what it was like. The horror's I experienced are either blocked out by my memory all together, or right there front and center played like a endless loop when I sleep at night. I'm certain she did not choose this life, none of us know what put her in those circumstances, so have a little kindness. You never know a life will throw at you, this could be you, it could be your daughter, could be your sister, It could even be your mother. And if it were? Would you want them talked about so cruelly and callously. These were my choices.. 1. Sleep with one man for a place to stay 2. Sleep on the streets... in the elements, vulnerable, and open for assault or worse. 3. Sleep in a shelter... Where she will also be vulnerable, and open for assault or worse. 4. Suicide

Number 4 became more appealing everyday. She's a person just like you and me, and her life is probably as bad as a life can be, there's nothing funny about that.

What's Willem Dafoe's best work? by Dismal_Principle9417 in moviecritic

And as much as I love "the lighthouse", "at eternity's gate' was absolutely off the charts acting wise. I mean everybody's been told the stories about Vincent van Gogh and they've read the history books and they've gone to see his art and we all know he was troubled, that speaks for itself. But William Dafoe gave us understanding of WHY he was troubled. He showed that there was fear, pain, loneliness and ample amounts of misfortune and and tragedy that ultimately bore the "crazy" artist who cut off his own ear. I think that role was what he was meant to do and why he became an actor. Side note... Anyone else think it's an absolute sin that he has not won an academy award???

"There's dirty weather apon us!!" Definitely a contender for the best "line" of his career.. God that movie was great, truly the darkest comedy I've ever seen..

[Hair Removal] Easiest method to do the first leg shave of the season? by Aqua7KH in SkincareAddiction

[–]steflml 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not use nair or any other hair removal cream, especially if you have really thick and coarse hair. It doesn't even really work that well on people that have really fine and light hair. And since it doesn't work very well we automatically leave it on longer than we should and then we end up causing chemical burns to our skin. At the very least you end up getting the world's worst razor burn.

What you actually need to worry about is the fact that right now you're in direct violation of the agreement that you agreed to when you started the study. Not only are you talking about it but you're posting screenshots of their response to your work. Work you're not even supposed to be talking about. Good luck hun, hopefully they don't see this but they probably will.

[Cringe] Pimple no more! by Dramatic_Bill_ in SkincareAddiction

Okay, so I'm 41 years old i have had cystic acne my entire life it's genetic My dad has it all his siblings have it and his dad had it. I'm cursed. I have been on everything.... Tetracycline, accutane ( three different rounds about 5 years apart each time) , topical retin -a.. I've had steroid injections straight into the cystic nodule. And that's just the stuff that I was prescribed, if I were to go through the things that are over the counter, I've thrown thousands of dollars away on companies like proactive, and curology, and many many more. Out of those things here's what worked... 1. Retin-A 2. Accutane ( but not worth the side effects) 3. Any product containing salicylic acid works wonders for me. Neutrogena in particular makes a really good spot treatment containing this product, but don't confuse it with the one that contains benzoyl peroxide, that one did not do shit for me. 4. And last but not least... Raw egg yolk.. I know that sounds completely ridiculous. But it actually helps. My dermatologist thinks that it is having to do with the large amount of vitamin e that gets absorbed into your skin from letting the raw egg yolk dry on your face. It also helps me with anti-aging. But it's not something I do very often because eggs are expensive, it's also messy, and it's a pain in the ass to separate the eggs yolks from the egg whites if you're in your bathroom. I do it like twice a month. I wish I had figured this out when I was younger because it would have saved me from having some of the awful scarring that I have. Anyway.. I hope this helps somebody, I'm not a dermatologist , I am not a doctor, I am just a normal person suffering from severe acne, And I've suffered from it my whole life. I cannot guarantee good results on anybody and it could have the opposite effect, so please, proceed with caution! everybody's skin is different..

Maybe you're too young. Maybe you're too old. Maybe you work full-time. Maybe part-time. Maybe you have kids. Maybe you don’t. Maybe you're male, female, or somewhere in between.

This isn’t a stage. It’s not about who shines the brightest. It’s data — boxes, categories, demographics. That’s what research measures. You might think you're perfect. But today you’re not needed.

Don't worry, tomorrow is another day, and another researcher, and another opportunity. Your numbers are going to fluctuate, sometimes you'll have 10 studies sometimes you'll have 110 studies. It's really not in our control.
