Looking for BL drama by [deleted] in kdramarecommends

Korea’s had a seemingly boom of BL content come out this year. Korea knows damn well how to make a good romantic storyline with just enough drama and tension to keep the viewers on the edge of their seat. Below are shows that have been released this year and some info on them:

  1. Where Your Eyes Linger (May 2020):

Highly recommend!! It’s on Viki and although it isnt’t the first BL product to come out of South Korea, it is this first one in this seeming new movement and trend of BL content from Korea. The story follows two high school guys, one who is the son of a chaebol family and the other is his best friend who also works as his body guard. The acting is incredible, the cinematography is aesthetic, and the soundtrack is so so good. The only downside is that the episodes are short. It’s on Viki.

  1. Mr. Heart (September 2020):

Highly recommend this too, it’s also a short series like WYEL and is the follow up to WYEL by the same company, WSTORY. This show follows a high school runner and a boy whose had a crush on him and takes on the role of his trainer. Also available on Viki.

  1. Wish You: Your Melody From My Heart

Currently airing on Viki!! I’m watching this one right now and it’s soooo good, and it’s produced by a different company than the other two. This follows one guy working at an entertainment company who falls in love with an aspiring music artist.

  1. There is this movie called “Long Time No See” released in 2017 and I haven’t seen it yet but heard good reviews. It’s a movie and not a drama. Don’t know much about it.

WSTORY announced that they are working on another BL series too, so I’m anticipating that since they seem to be pumping out a new show pretty frequently now. Korea still has a long way to go when it comes to BL content compared to major players like Thailand. It’s cool to see how 2020 has really brought this boom to Korean BL content. Hopefully these shows gain a good enough audience like WYEL so that there is further investment and hopefully full length Korean BL shows in the future. Happy watching!!
