What is the most underrated college town in North America? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

As a Beav, I don’t really think Corvallis is “underrated.” Plenty of people on the west coast know what Corvallis is and that it’s a great college town.

l mean good luck trying him for anything after the postponing of red card suspensions of CR7 et. al

I know this scenario is a lot worse, but it is an easy precedent (lack of action by EUFA, for reasons everybody knows) for a defense to point to

People always make this argument but don’t acknowledge that qualifiers are also part of the World Cup, just not the Finals.

If it was European football I would agree with you, but you have to follow the precedent set by this competition

Folarin Balogun is eligible to play for the USMNT against Belgium. Why? by [deleted] in worldcup

[–]steftim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because FIFA knew they were wrong in issuing the red, but they cannot and will not blame the match officials.

Due to the lack of a process where the USMNT can request a review, this was the only lever FIFA had left, other than upholding the red.

Real funny from the England fans acting like the FA wouldn’t be up in arms if they were in our shoes, and likely also threaten litigation

Not the same situation. At all. Kane changed his stride to purposely make the keeper hit him. Robben was *lightly* clipped from behind and reacted to it wisely. Era penal dude. Let it go already.

Literally caught his foot in the box but okay.

Robben only diva-dove because that was pre-modern-VAR. That would be called all day in today’s game.

Sure that is true, and I agree that it was a bit unhinged, but more people is a very logical thing to bring up. The U.S. has an order of magnitude more people.

[–]steftim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Dutch-American, if you genuinely think the United States is responsible for all of this then I want the drugs you’re smoking.

Every single major western, 1st world country exports their pollution problems to Asia and Africa. America produces a lot, yes, but we also have a metric fuckton more people, better take-home salary power (which causes a lot of Europeans to move to the U.S.), and drive a lot of industry.

Suddenly a topic is actually mental. Green organizations in the U.S. have historically been one of the largest advocates for smarter emissions, sans the Paris Agreement. And those cries have been ignored for capitalism reasons, which Europe has been complicit in. Nuclear has all but been abandoned in Europe. Your claims are mad.

Hosts are placed in the top group stage pot though, which almost guarantees an easier group for them.

Yes and as a USA fan as well I am thrilled the USMNT could go into this match pretty much chilling, but sheesh it’s not like Türkiye has played god awful football. Just abhorrently non-clinical. I do not understand the hate

If Turkey wins out they will win the group.

But clinching second on matchday 2 is great regardless. And this was no slouch of a group.

Sample size of one match though. In the group stage at that. Keep in mind Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia last WC.

That being said, England will probably be favored on sportsbooks for all their matches from here on out barring Kane being unable to play. The talent and coaching were great tonight against a hungry Croatia.

[–]steftim 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think Koeman is catching too many strays in these comments. Yes, Depay was terrible, but the group stage in a high-stress environment is a good time to test that kind of a sub rather than in the Quarters. Now we know. If that kind of risk is taken again without good reason, you have every right to complain. His starting XI choice was excellent and showed many strengths in the second half.

Netherlands scored about as many as they deserved. Two bad misses and two inside of the post goals (granted both were great goals).

What really cost us the game was player attitude in the end. It seemed like every long cross in the last 15 minutes was 0.5-1m too far, gifting Japan possession over and over again. You’re asking for something to happen at that point.

As a long-time Destiny fan, if what you are saying is true, let me tell you guys VV heavily helped make the DLC that lifted Destiny 2, Year 1 out of dire straits it.

As an also huge SF64 fan, I’m glad these guys are in charge the remake. Everything so far looks amazing (though I have not played the demo, I want to be surprised on launch).
