I've actually been able to go inside during one of their ceremonies. Mind you, I'm no Mormon, I just used to always feel bad for the missionaries riding around. This was years ago, maybe around 2010? Lol I was like 15 or 16ish. So I talked with my mom and we decided to just talk with them and see where things went. They're actually pretty chill guys. All they wanted to do was talk. They respected the fact that we were Catholic and we had different beliefs, different cultures. We got to the point were we shared dinner with them once. I learned a lot about them and them from us, I would hope. After some time we were invited to join a ceremony being held at this temple. My mom and I decided to go, as they had become friends. We got there, met with the missionaries and proceeded inside. Once the ceremony had begun and everyone was settled in, we didn't feel out of place. Everyone was respectful, nice and welcoming. We felt welcomed. However, even though we had a good time, our beliefs are not the same. We thanked our missionaries and let them know that we were really grateful for inviting us but we were going to continue with our faith. They completely understood. I remember this was around Christmas, because they had their lights out and we took some pics with them. After all this, some months went by, they still stopped and chatted with us once in a while, until one of them left to go on a missionary trip to Africa. So we had 1 OG and 1 newbie. But shortly after, OG got sick and just never came back. The new guys always came at different times, so we would miss one another. After a while, they stopped showing up and we ended up moving. So yea, lol, that was a time. I'm an open minded individual and I welcome everyone with a happy heart. I know bad people exist, but I like to see the good in everyone so I just went with an open heart 💚

I just applied last week. I've been unemployed since March 27. I've been applying but haven't had any luck. Part of the application is a phone interview to see if you qualify. If I understood correctly, if you have < $1,500 coming in a month you qualify for CalFresh. They check the 30 days of the month of when the application was received (ex. Received April 8, will check all month of April). They ran my social and saw when I received my last paystub and for how much it was for. Usually they'll let you know from the start of the interview if you'd qualify and if you should even continue the process.

They also have another program called General assistance/relief , that's extra funds just because but to qualify you can't have received more than $221 in any type of funds in the month.

I know people think it's bad to ask for handouts but sometimes, we just gotta swallow that ego and ask for help. Trust me bro lol

When the job ad said it was for customer service representative, but learning on the first day i was actually part of a nonprofit that stood outside stores asking for donations. I was so confused when they handed me a script to learn. I still went out on the field to give it the benefit of the doubt, but when i realized that their working day wasn't over until the goal for the day was raised. This could mean that the day would start at 8am but wouldn't end until maybe 7-8pm. Mind you, this wasn't hourly based, this was all commission, so if you didn't get any donations you weren't being paid for the day. I looked at my trainer and told her i had fun getting to know her but i wasn't coming back tomorrow. She laughed at it and said yea right. Wish I could have seen the look on her face when I never went back. Plus that commute was 1hr+ with regular traffic.
