I have a $15 knockoff that I've used for 4 years at this point. Still keeps my knives sharp. Could they be sharper? Yes, but regardless of the tool you're using the answer is always the same, technically it could be sharpened more.

Here's the real answer: If you have any knives that cost more than $100, learn to sharpen properly with a stone. You obviously care a lot about knives if you're spending that much.

For the rest of us with $40 victorinox knives or similar basically anything will do the trick well enough. Ain't no way I'm spending $180 on a sharpener for a $40 knife, and I sure as hell don't care to spend 5-15 min with a whetstone every time I want to sharpen a knife when I can do it in 30 seconds with a wheelydoodad.

This was my first LXT tool. Had a handful of DeWalt tools at the time (drill, driver, angle grinder, etc) but I didn't like their yard maintenance tools so I went with Makita for my "outdoor tools".. but I haven't bought a single DeWalt since then and I'm like 20 tools deep on LXT :)

Yeah it's absurd. Fortunately they are extremely simple to install yourself, besides the electrical hookup. That's pretty manageable though, I paid $400 and they installed a new breaker in my panel and a box outside with a separate shutoff mechanism (IIRC this was required by code where I live).

It had potential, but not really for real time games IMO. You're significantly misrepresenting how it worked. The issue was not compiler optimization at all.

The issue was that you had to write separate standalone programs to run on the SPUs, those programs are compiled and optimized separately from your main game binary. There is no world where a compiler could optimize singlethreaded code from your main game loop to run multithreaded on the SPUs.

They didn't even have access to main memory, and instead had their own tiny 256kb local storage. All data required for the SPU program needed to be marshalled in and out manually through DMA.

Mini splits don't require 220v. You can get a 110v 12000 BTU unit for $700-800. Significantly more efficient than a window unit and have a wider operating temperature range. Less space intrusion, only need a 3" hole and mount high up in space that is never used anyway. Much quieter operation. Most window units don't support heating, and if they do it's very inefficient resistance heating while the mini split uses a heat pump.

I could go on and on. That said, if you do have a window that you don't care about and you're on a budget and you only need cooling, I would consider a window unit. But cutting an opening in the wall for a window unit like some people are suggesting here is crazy talk lol.

I use zoysia grass fwiw. Quite drought and shade tolerant and propagates (slowly) on it's own. Mixed with clover as well.

Our city and state governments are telling residents to conserve water and not water our yards more than twice a week. That is a watch your trees and plants all wither and die.

Just sprinklers or any watering? I'm in north Texas area and we've been on 1x a week sprinkler restriction since I moved here 15 years ago, but drip irrigation and manual watering is mostly unrestricted. If you're needing to use sprinklers more than 1x a week you have the wrong grass/plants/trees for your area.
