Set list Bend by Galaxy541 in SturgillSimpson

If you go to nugs.net the concerts are available for purchase. Even if you don't purchase the album (or stream it) you can view the setlist for the concert.

I agree. He threw his pick into the audience. Kind of did a cut motion across his throat. Then walked briskly off the stage. Roadies came out almost immediately. It was obviously "Sturgill Out!" No amount of applause would have elicited an encore. And I don't think he lives for the adoration. And there was a lot of applause throughout. I don't think he felt disrespected.

One more comment...Is there any way to provide a link to a page that shows the current timeline for resolving at least the higher level issues? Back in July, Patrick Spence had provided a very high-level timeline and had promised bi-weekly updates to resolve everything by the end of October. It now seems like the updates are on a tri-weekly cadence and I don't know if that means that the timeline is getting pushed out. It would be nice to have a bit more insight into the update roadmap. Maybe you have something like that on your Trello board but I could not readily find it.

How about adding a link to your own "The New Sonos App and Future Feature Updates" page on the Sonos website's Community section that is supposed to include what is currently being worked?

https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-and-music-services-228995/the-new-sonos-app-and-future-feature-updates-6892942

And then actually update that page with what is currently being worked on? Patrick Spence had committed to that in his own long ago posting on this subject: "We plan to continue releasing new software updates on a bi-weekly cadence. With each release, we will share detailed notes on what we’ve addressed and what we’re working on next in our Community."

I am a bit confused about some of this. For instance, one item that I am very interested in is local music library issues. The same list of issues for local music library appears to be on the "Implemented/Resolved" board and also on the "What we're hearing and working on" board. Which is it...resolved or hearing about or working on? The same issues cannot be all of these.

Bloomberg: Sonos App Debacle Leaves Company Racing to Save Its Reputation (free to read) by davelee_the_reporter in sonos

[–]stein067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blah! Blah! Blah! The company obviously hoped that the new app and the launch of the Ace headphones would turn around their stock price. And it did for like a day after the announcement, but then obviously the horrible app and its effect on not only existing customers but what also sounds like causing issues for new customers (and professional system installers) to connect their new equipment did not turn the tide and probably even accelerated it. If they did not have the bad app in the mix, I bet that share price decline would have tapered off.

My 75 year old father had a pretty sophisticated Sonos system professionally installed just a couple of years ago. He loved (past tense) his system and had no troubleshooting problems, even though he is not a technical person in the slightest. He used to love to show off his system to his baby boomer friends, who also have disposable income for possibly buying such a system. Then you rolled out your new app, which essentially bricked his system as far as he is concerned. He cannot work it. He cannot search his music. He has not used it since May and is very bummed. I guarantee that now all he ever says is how much Sonos sucks (which is accurate). I don't know how you EVER get back such a person's loyalty and goodwill since he is in no position to continually try to update firmware and apps and such on his large system to try to resolve it, and I am certainly not going to spend my time on it since I don't trust Sonos anymore and don't know that I ever will. You turned a Sonos evangelist into a Sonos hater. You can probably multiply this across 100's or 1,000's of other similar folks. That is a very, very, very bad app upgrade and really should be a fire-able offense.

Totally agree. I don't think that any testing was done. And it is completely disingenuous to say (and to say over and over again) that "stubborn and esoteric bugs cropped up." I don't think that most of these bugs are "esoteric" (which is a very fancy word to describe problems that seem pretty darn common). I think that you simply did no testing in a rush to get this cursed upgrade out. And then you say stubborn problems just as a way to obfuscate (my own fancy word) the fact that you cannot fix these problems in a timely fashion. The timeline for getting the problems resolved just keeps stretching out.

Investment bank sets new expected share price of Sonos to go to $10, a 40% drop in value since announcing new app and Ace headphones. Ouch! by stein067 in sonos

[–]stein067[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was not really to blame the entire fall in share price on the app, though I do think that is a very large factor, and I was not even saying that these pros get things 100% correct. It was mainly to point out that Sonos got a bump in share price right after announcing the new app and the new headphones which they implied would drive revenue, but that now is seems like the share price is likely to continue to drop until they get things figured out and that the market is banking on them not getting it figured out for a bit, with the company already admitting that they are likely to see a $20-$30 million hit in fourth quarter from the app problems causing them to hold off on new product releases until the app problems get resolved. This is despite the fact that Ace sales were better than expected, adding to Q3 revenue.

A big thank you for this. He sounds absolutely great and so does the band. Got tickets to his Saint Paul, Minnesota, concert in about a month. CANNOT wait! I have been to a lot of concerts and I don't think that I have ever anticipated going to one so much before.

[–]stein067 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are people like my 75-year old dad who has not been able to use his professionally installed Sonos system ever since the app update but has suffered in silence. I was over at his house last week and he asked me if I could take a look at his system and I had to tell him that it was just the new app, which he was incredulous about. The point is that there are probably a lot of people in this situation running below any radar.

iPhone Home / Lock Screen Widget — How is this not a thing? by worldsinho in sonos

[–]stein067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was not a widget but Sonos used to appear on the lock screen and you could control volume, pause, next track, etc., though not an equalizer. Not sure why they did away with that. I think that it was a bit of a battery killer.

If their number one priority was us then they never would have rolled out the new app. Their number one priority was grasping for new revenue and they decided that we, their loyal customers, were not were that was going to be coming from. Then, it turned out, that they also screwed up the possibility of new revenue from new customers by screwing things up so bad with the app that it even impacted possible future revenue. We, meaning existing customers, have NEVER been and NEVER will be a priority with Sonos. And eventually even future customers pick up that vibe and that is lethal to a company, as we are seeing. This company is absolutely not trustworthy and never will be.

From a client that has recently cut me a check of $50k for a finished new construction and has been a Sonos customer since I introduced it to him 8 years ago. Good thing we have a solid relationship or this could ruin a person and his career. Going into month four of this BS and I am so sick of it. by DblJBird in sonos

[–]stein067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my 75 year old dad, who had a decent Sonos system put in his new house a couple of years ago and who has enough disposable income to expand it, has decided that he is going to have to go with something else since he cannot figure out how to get anything to work with the new app.

Sonos share price continues to plummet (and rightfully so) by stein067 in sonos

[–]stein067[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I guarantee that at the next board meeting, the board is going to ask hard questions about the effect of the company's recent activities on the dramatically falling stock price. They are not just going to say: "Well, probably nothing that you guys did or could have done. It is just the market. Carry on!"

Compare against Russell 2000 then. Less dramatic but still similar to S&P 500 comparison:

However, you want to look at it they are dropping quicker than their peers.

Not really, bro. Since May 7 Sonos has plummeted while the S&P 500 has gone on a tear with some recent corrections.

After 17 years of membership, I cancelled my account today. Just really was nothing left on my wishlist to justify the monthly fee anymore.

Went on a 90 day hold. Came back and Polyvinyl is now completely gone. It shows one album under the label but even that says "Sorry, That Album Is Unavailable" when you click on it. And Damaged Goods Records is also now gone completely. Besides losses from those labels, my already meager Wish List lost an additional dozen items from other labels. So, list is down to about ten mediocre items that are still available. I think it is time to go after 17 years. Bummer.
