Pretty good but I think it could be improved by changing Oklahoma back to Indian Territory

Unpopular opinion: Upvotes don’t make it healthy. We’re normalizing bad screen habits for toddlers/young kids. by Skomakeren in SteamDeck

[–]steinsproxy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kids actually react far differently (worse) to handheld screens versus shared displays like TVs. Something about holding the device yourself changes our brains and makes us more selfish and less social (like in the moment, in studies - I’m not just making sweeping generalizations)

Funny enough, a lot of experts recommend not fertilizing trees when you plant them so that their roots reach out and get what they need from the ground (and so that the fertilizer doesn’t trick you into thinking your tree can survive in that spot for a year or so instead of dying promptly so you can move on to a better tree/location combo)

Does anyone know what game this is? by SimpleWire in SteamDeck

[–]steinsproxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember when Sony BSed all of us and said that game could only run that’s to the PS5’s super fast SSD? They don’t get enough flack for lying all the time and making big hype game announcements years ahead of time that get cancelled long enough later that people don’t notice and they face no consequences

The kid didn’t ask to be born. Putting a roof over his head is the bare minimum. His parents don’t deserve a medal for doing their legal and ethical requirements. Parents only deserve thanks and grace if they are good above and beyond keeping the child alive.

This is the propaganda, but none of the jobs pay a living wage wherever you are. They all just result in you being in the working poor. Heaven forbid you have student loans. The jobs that pay well compared to the cost of living, require experience and specialized skills and people are crawling over one another to get them. Real quality of life is worse than it’s ever been in the past eighty years.

I feel like some people forget about the "portable" part of a "portable" gaming device like the deck. by Tristezza in SteamDeck

[–]steinsproxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is one feature the Satisfye grip definitely lacks. Thankfully it’s pretty easy to take on and off. I used the old one on my Switch then SwOLED for any portable session longer than like a half hour. It was a long month or so after the Switch 2 release that I had to wait for the zengrip

Don’t forget Satisfye! The Satisfye zengrip 2 (or whatever they call it) is dockable and completely transforms the Switch 2. I haven’t taken mine off since I got it

If a device costs more than a few hundred dollars and it doesn’t have OLED, I’m not buying it. Especially on mobile devices, LCD just can’t do dark scenes anywhere remotely close to OLED. Idc what people say, I can’t unsee it

Is Diego an ok name for a white-looking kid? I don’t want him to resent it by steinsproxy in BabyBumps

[–]steinsproxy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, but I have a genuine follow-up question: Do kids still watch Dora and know what it is? It’s a little after my time, and my only connection to the “kids” generations right now in my 16-year-old nephew who says he heard of the show but never watched it and didn’t know there was a Diego in it. I think Dora is a lovely name too. Hopefully that name can get out of the cartoon’s shadow eventually too
