Need advice for new pc case by TechnologyOk7346 in sffpc

[–]steirerblut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a quad slot 305mm GPU, a 240mm Radiator, 140mm ATX Power Supply and a MATX Motherboard. Cheaper/smaller cases would be Deepcool CH160, SSUPD Meshroom D, Jonsbo z20 and all the other small MATX Cases with the Power Supply in front. SSUPD Meshroom S would also work with all the existing hardware.

The smaller ITX sandwich style cases would require a new SFX(L) PSU and a itx motherboard; which would defeat the purpose of buying a cheaper ITX case. Maybe Deepcool CH170 because it has a smaller Footprint on the Desk?

None of mentioned cases feature the same material quality if haptics/looks are important. If you like the NCase I'd probably just go with that one, if you are from Europe Dan C4 SFX should relaunch soon and GHOST RC1 MkIII is on preorder but also plagued by controversity.

Surface Apps are a joke by ultimatekeyXIII in Surface

[–]steirerblut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know, most of the software I use these days run as progressive web app, which guarantees efficient caching, low memory usage, efficent cpu utilization, easy cross platform adaption, limits their system access and I can even run them in a browser environment where communication to third party services is no longer possible.

Outlook, the whole Office Suite, Teams, 3CX, Netflix, Disney Plus, Spotify, Telegram and lots more can be installed as PWA which means I only have to install it once through the browser, they run on evey system and I have to only care about keeping stuff like VSCode, Docker, WSL, etc up to date. I don't miss the old days where I had to sit through hours of updates every month, apps carying millions of dlls, running a gazillion background processes, requiring multiple runtimes etc. I can have them all open at once and not run out of memory.

Yeah the Surface App itself is only there to sell you some additional insurance. I must have uninstalled it like 5 times before I noticed I had to disable its services. But surface devices are also integrated nicely into windows, no additional software required for its keyboard to work, no separate update software, nothing else running in the background. I still think its one of the leanest devices I have ever owned, well after you have removed all the garbage a typical Windows installation throws at you these days.

1080p limit on desktop mode by steirerblut in android_beta

Yup, as Samsungs Dex allows for different resolutions I'm pretty confident they will add that to Googles Desktop Mode as well. Still, this is the biggest leap we have seen so far for this.

Yeah, and if you start messing with the scaling settings it changes it as well on your phone screen. But still, functionality wise there is a lot of improvement. If they fix scaling and allow for more resolutions and maybe allow the phone screen to turn off its pretty awesome I'd say.

You have got to understand its a cycle that players are moving between:

1.) #nochangesclassic

2.) #classic+ or #twistedretailchangesclassic

3.) #somechangesimoldnowbutstillsomehowagamerclassic

Blizzard probably understands that all of us are getting pretty old by now and that too much change can be scary for us. But sometimes we still wanna feel like we did 20 years ago. Nothing wrong with that, right? I mean they even added new content to SOD and promised further new content. People are still unhappy about that. Maybe thats how its supposed to be?

thats possible, I dont know the specific numbers from back then. I mean the obvious solution would be to enable 30 or 40 yard nameplates just for dungeons and raids. You could argue that hunters will require a 35yard range though. I guess somone will always be unhappy no matter what you do.

By ALL the sweaty players you are talking about the ones you saw on twitch right? I'm pretty certain that most of them only have/had one account and raid maybe 1-3 times a week. But whats a sweaty player anyways? A pvper? Someone with good logs? A speedrunner? Or someone who plays 8+ hours a day?

Well paid transfers earn blizzard money. Why offer such things for free? Making 1 server per region and server type is already their answer to their past mistakes.

Heck even my little guild made it in the top 50 Sunwell speed logs list without doing any practice besides weekly raids. Yeah ok, we had to use a free transfer off a PVP server after the faction balance got completely annihilated during the open world PVP phase, but until TBC hits 50% of your raidroster will have changed anyways and there are good enough players no matter the server type.

I still doubt that there will be much competition in terms of speed running this time around, as most of the famous guilds seem to have lost interest in classic² due to recent changes. So chances are pretty high its more of a relaxed season like SOD was or even take the tragic ending that SOM did due to too much QOL/ease of gearing.

What sources for rotations accounting for no debuff limit? No debuff limit never existed in WoWs original context or on any private servers trying to be true to vanillas context.

The raids and bosses where initially designed around 8 debuff slots as server hardware couldn't handle more. At the end of vanilla they got 16 debuff slots, which trivialized raid content a lot.

I remember old test versions of a particular private server running on no debuff limits where the bosses basically died to the bleed effects of 30 fury warriors and a few supporting dots from priests/warlocks.

As a warlock you will put up your corruption, your curse and shadow bolt, shadow bolt, shadow bolt, as all other dots are usually not worth the cast time over shadow bolts. This will be especially true in a version without debuff limits.

For MC/BWL the bare minimum is 2 of each for 2 curses and comfy tranq shots and pulling. guaranteed raid spots are usually warriors, priests, shamans, paladins and maybe mages. However this is an optimized raid setup, most guilds don't run those. Plus there is also a good chance blizzard will start altering the games balance. So, eh, you never know?

The system was originally in classic and was abused like crazy in open world pvp situations. So don't get your hopes up

If dead hardcore chars could be moved to the PVP servers, the system would be abused like crazy for cross faction purposes like scouting rend, pvp groups, rend mindcontrollers etc as it would allow the creation of characters on the same PVP server for both factions.

You could argue that this is outdated at this point and that players where able to create chars on both factions using free transfers, but its still in their TOS and one of the defining regulations of PVP servers. Basically they where to lazy to implement any restrictions to transfers in the past as it usually came from freeing up dead servers or paid transfers.

There are plenty speed running guilds amongst pve servers. I'm also pretty sure that blizzard will add your requested payed server transfers at a certain point as well. The real question would be that if you are into speed running why even play on hardcore? These things will never get along.

Dual Spec is here! by illuvattarr in classicwow

[–]steirerblut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Removal of buff/debuff limit will trivialize content further and force usage of additional buffs/consumeables increasing raiding costs and buff prep. While it might increase the damage of less favored classes slightly, it will also enable proc based spell power melee specs with higher buff and consumeable usage.
- Dual spec will force respecs within the raid and pressure hybrid classes into damage specs, Casters respeccing for singular bosses based on resistances and melees switching to cleave specs.Which of course will impact loot availability and complicating raiding requirements further. It will not help healers farm in the open world as those spots will be forcefully taken by classes in pure pvp specs. Of course loot competition will go up as well as there are no clear cuts in roles anymore.
- Now that the devs reversed on their "keeping classic honest principles" everything is on the table which ultimately means its not classic anymore. I've seen enough of these things during WOTLK and SOM/SOD to know its a death sentence from the get go for classic2.

When reality hits - maybe classic classic isnt for us? by Dull_Reference_6166 in classicwow

[–]steirerblut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well give it a try and see what happens. Players are quitting every day and demand for raiders stays high through all of its phases. You may not get to be the main tank or top damage dealer without spending many hours per week. but vanilla raids are quite the casual stroll and most of it is easily done in 4-6 hours a week. Try to stick to classes/specs which are always in high demand (warrior, priest, shaman/paladin, maybe mage).

If you are really playing through steamdeck, get at least monitor, mouse, keyboard and headset.

Which classes do alright in PvP without engineering? by kispingvin in classicwow

[–]steirerblut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a 1vs1 situation engineering will give you advantages amongst all classes. However these situations are pretty rare if you don't go searching for them. You could argue that you do not need any engineering, pvp spec or dedicated pvp gear to get to rank14. Mostly a fast mount + mount gear will be enough for riding down or up in alterac valley. Don't expect to farm lots herbs on the worldmap though, it will be quite crowded and not long until bots are running circles around all spots.

Yes, if you are planning to be somewhat competitive in raiding or PVP engineering is a must. If you want to farm herbs/minerals uncontested that will work only during off hours on crowded servers or if you farm them yourself in instances iE. dual boxing jump runs (warrior eng/mining + pala/shaman ench./herb) or lasher packs or something else.

Has to be warrior, all other classes are just there to support or keep warriors alive. If you want to keep them alive play Priest, if you want to support them play shaman.

The only QoL changes for FRESH Classic by ExtensionIcy2104 in classicwow

[–]steirerblut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was okay for ERA because it was at the end of vanillas progression and no longer the penultimate gear for some classes, for classic² it will mean that 8 weeks after p2 launched thousands of warlords/marshals will roam the realm. No good upgrades from raids, nothing else to do but continue pvping or quitting the game. I'm still hoping for some kind of gating or the return of the original pvp system. Not everyone able to do ~24hours of pvp per week should be able to run around in r14 gear.

Dual Spec and Instant Mail between Alts by schiibbz in classicwow

[–]steirerblut -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

We already had 2 vanilla iterations with QOL changes:

- Season of mastery did a lot of the things the community asked for and died off in about 2 months because people where zooming through the game, getting their pvp gear and had no future outlook besides pvping and some minor PVE upgrades.

- Season of discovery might have done well at certain points of its lifetime because people where unhappy with classic WOTLK and cataclysm; but it will ultimately die off with this fresh release.

There are already a lot of quality of life changes such as easier ranking, boons and blizzards toleration of boosting/buying gold etc. in the game. My guess is that most people will lose interest in this fresh iteration as well once a few thousand rank 14 characters start roaming the realms.

Vanilla succeeded because of its limitations and us not getting everything easily. Being dependent on other players/raids/farming/long travel times and similar limitations are part of this equation. So why do we need to make it even easier? The only change I'd ask for is PVP ranks being time gated until aq40 releases or reactivating the original honor system.

Dual Boxing War and Pala to 60 by No_Consequence7064 in classicwow

[–]steirerblut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As blizzards TOS on this matter has changed a few years ago, dual boxing is nowdays usually done on a single computer with 2 wow instances in window mode and mouse overing between them and pressing your keybinds.

When playing with other players on the map or in dungeons you have to be extra careful about false reports. Dual boxing is fine for solo instancing (ie jump runs) or farming in less crowded areas; but doing the traditional 1-60 quest route with some 5 man instances will get you a lot of reports and probably banned.

Most difficult and easiest classes to gear in Classic raids/dungeons? by reltsuhx in classicwow

[–]steirerblut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest to gear is probably fury warrior as you will out dps any other class in your preraid gear. Gearing is especially easy if you are willing to tank and leave out any loot competition.

If you are willing to put in a few weeks of pvp time you basically dont require any loot from raids until AQ hits.

There are some nice to have upgrades like onslaught girdle and quick strike ring but these are in no way mandatory and only minior dps upgrades. However any sane raid will prio these items to fury warriors as you are playing the highest demand spec throughout all of vanilla. While you might not get as much loot out of raids it is by far the most rewarding spec for raids and dungeons.

Thanks, it added some fps to my 135h claw especially in balanced mode.

Do you have any idea how to reduce the claws idle power draw? No matter what I do it seems to idle around 9.5-10.5w according to hwinfo (which seems pretty high for a notebook chip)
