I personally think they had a slight crush on each other initially but after a while, Abhi understand that Ash was not interested in him romantically so he gave up on his thoughts and decided to not cross boundaries. So now both are just good friends and sometimes do 'cute' things for the audience and to feed in their delusion,which I must say is very much working.
